Honestly I don’t blame him. It’s just ironic, like Anakin not liking sand.I imagine most of ski jumpers don't. Imagine waiting for the green light on that ramp at -25 degrees somwhere in Sapporo or northern Europe to take jump![]()

What was fortunate about O'Connor's fourth at the Giro?
Ski jumpers probably spend most of their time wearing plastic garments in a sauna to lose weight anyway. Perfect heat training.Gets extra funny when you realise he was literally a winter athlete before his cycling career.
He's just a class too high for the rest of the field. I don't believe Mas can take on Roglic in this kind of shape. I thought he might have a chance in 2021 and he didn't get close. So far I have seen nothing to suggest this year will go differently. Like, I don't think Roglic's level is incredibly high and he isn't always rock solid throughout GTs but there is just no competitor in this race who seems up to the task of beating him. Guys like Mas and Landa are the riders who can challenge him from day to day and who look good next to him on a podium but they not the kind of riders to beat him over 3 weeks.
Well, it kinda is. That and his TT. I very much doubt he'stronger than Landa and Mas in the high mountains, i.e today and the 5 hard MTFs. But he just needs not to get drop and he will win by 2 minutes to Mas and 3-4 to Landa with bonus, small splits towards the end and TTIt's 2024 and we're still acting as if Roglic' edge on the non mutants is anaerobic ability and explosiveness.
Why would they be stronger than Rog in the high mountains? The last high mountain stage they competed (TDF stage 4 to Galibier - i think that should qualify as high mountain) Roglic put 20 seconds into Landa and 3,5 minutes into Mas. Yes, this is the Vuelta, so Mas might be a bit stronger, but I don't think there's a lot of difference between them.Well, it kinda is. That and his TT. We have to be happy with how it ended. Primož is a real fighter. I just hope he doesn't get sick...
Ahh. That might explain today (stage 9).Roglic with Covid mask at team presentation today!?!? Hopefully only a safety measure

Well said. The only survivors off the front were those given a massive lead. Roglic and Mas even together would not have that opportunity without much company and little gap achieved. It was ideal to make everyone else work to the max and not lose meaningful time.It could be his traditional bad first Sunday, a bit like Formigal 4 years ago.
I mean if that was his 'bad day', then he saved it well. Nice to see Lipowitz strong enough to stay with the red jersey group as well.
Also, the finale today clearly wasn't 'ideal' for an attack on the last climb because chasers could close it down (as happened to Mas), so even with great legs the profile wouldn't have been good.
Given that information I would have thought the team would have done more to help keep the break in check?Should call it a season after Vuelta then.
The most worrying part by far is that the pain isn't going away
