If Pog and Vinge focus on the TdF next year, then the Giro is a no brainer. Go for it.

At this point in his career he needs the mental clarity and self-awareness... to basically clean up wherever he can.

I said before, during and after the Tour: winning stuff is better than losing stuff. So Vuelta > a TdF Podium, likewise another Giro win next year would be an amazing achievement.

He wants Suisse so he can say he's the first one ever to have won all 7 big WT-races, before Pogacar does it basically.

I would also like to see him do the Giro + Vuelta double. Pogacar and Vingegaard will probably do the TDF + Vuelta, and I can see Evenepoel go for Giro + TDF. Another Giro with Roglic and Evenepoel would be nice.
Sorry but it doesn't matter if he wins all 7 one week stage races because there is no Tour in his palmares. A shame btw, he will never win a Tour when riders like Bernal won one year earlier from his terrible loss in France

Giro participation should be depending on route. If RCS really wants to cater to Remco and give him 60k flat ITT with low climbing then I would rather skip and go Fleche, Suisse, Tour.

Doesn't matter to who? To you? He isn't doing it for you. He's doing it for himself, to write himself another time in the history books.

Even if he wins, he will need the Tour to complete what is trying to achieve, winning all important stage races.
There's a list of all big 1-week WT races, no one has ever won all 7. Apparently based on that interview he's going for it, he only needs Suisse.

Says who? This performance hasn't been done even by Merckx/Hinault etc. As for Tour the evolution of the mutants kinda *** him over. Bernal has Tour/Giro yet in GC tier list he is far behing Rog all-time. Tour is overrated only by casual fans. Fans who follow cycling know the level and how races are won.

Why? He's not trying to be some all time great. Just a great rider that did something nobody else managed to achieve. Clearly he is not at the level of those like Contador, Froome :rage: , Armstrong, Indurain etc

I'm not sure that means he won't ride the Tour. Maybe just that he won't submit the whole season to it. I don't know how would Denk & co. react if Primož says he doesn't want to ride the Tour...

To me, it sounded like going for the Tour, but with no big fanfare and that not being the one big season goal.
I guess Suisse as a Dauphine replacement fits well enough.

With how he talks about some new challenges I might expect him to focus more on the Ardennes than the Itzulia's for this world. Maybe throw in Sanremo because yolo.

The other idea he's floated is to do all 3 GTs in a season, but I guess he'd wait with that one more year.

He doesn't need to win the Tour, to be the most beloved man in slovenia.

The Tour doesn't define Rogla any more and that is a victory by itself. Still, why not, on Rogličes terms, though.

Emilia #4

Hopefully the form will be there already, four times Emilia winner, four time Vuelta winner ... sounds exactly as something Rogla would do. To end the season with an autumn hat-trick? Still, this season it's important to win Il Lombardia and hence maybe there will need to be sacrifices made for that. On the other hand who knows on how the legs will respond, after two good training blocks. Maybe first (mini) peak is indeed here already and Rogla to stomp all the goats tomorrow. We'll see.
