Has to be a good sign for this season that such bizzareness can happen without Roglic hitting the ground!
Actually, it's him being there that caused the problem.
Sports director: Guys, watch for that Roglič guy at the finish. You know what happened to Wright when Roglič sprinted.
Guys: so we need to go around the other way? Fine.

During race: guys, Roglič guy is following us on the wrong side of the road and he wants to sprint...
Sports director: that sounds about right...

It is quite disappointing he lost so much on th flat, but the good news is that he was faster than Jonas on the climb and probably the fastest overall whilst looking like he was not dying a thousand deaths like Jonas was at the end. Maybe they were taking it kinda easy before the climb not to risk crashing and not needing to push to the limit this early in the season.

Paris-Nice 2024 form.

It's difficult to say with certainty what exactly the reason was. I mean getting clobbered by Vingegaard is one thing but getting beat by Schachmann and some others is a bit more 'interesting'.

At the end of the day he said months ago he didn't expect to have any form in Algarve and that's exactly what transpired.

Ciccone was faster than Vingegaard on Domancy (Combloux TT). Being faster means nothing because Vingegaard was probably going harder on "flat terrain" which harm his speed on the climb

He did not look very happy during the interview at the finish. I would also like to add my 2 cents about this Dan Bingham guy or whatever his name is. I listened to him once or twice is he was one of those guys who is constantly saying weight does not matter it is all about aero (this is delusional in my opinion). I do not know how good he is at aero stuff but if he honestly thinks that way (and is not just saying stuff to promote aero equipment) then RBH are in trouble. No good can come out of such an engineer. Also, INEOS seem to go OK without him now.

Dan Bigham is a modest and limited talent that somehow engineered himself into breaking the world hour record and nearly becoming IP world champion. I reckon he knows what he is doing.
