Do you honestly think he has a chance of winning the Tour?
It is probably as good as it's going to get. Jonas may not even be there, and if he is he's had far from the best preparation.

That leaves Pog, who is the real favourite. However he has just ridden the Giro which normally would not be considered in his favour. However he looked so good people now think it was beneficial, but it is still probably not the best way to prepare for the tour.

Roglic certainly isn't the favourite, but it's hard to see him getting a better shot than this year. He definately has a chance. Just please stay upright.

He had two excellent chances in 2019 and 2020.

For some reason, he and the team decided to pass on the first one, and then we all know what happened on the second one.

That was now or never.

Now we are in the never scenario.

I hope I'm wrong but I would be shocked if he stands at the top of the podium in Nice.

Yes. You will see the strongest Rogla ever (if he doesn't crash from now until Nice).

He'd have won in 2021 too if he hadn't crashed.

I agree but those chances are gone.

After Jonas and Pog he is the best GC rider in my opinion. Jonas as we know him will probably not be there, so he is my favourite for second.

Pogacar is attempting something monumental, and he also needs to stay upright. Anything can happen.

Do you honestly think he has a chance of winning the Tour?
Of course he has a chance, there's a lot of unknowns about this year's Tour. Pogacar may well end up feeling the Giro, Vingegaard is a total enigma, and we haven't really seen Bora Roglic at all this season. If Roglic is on 2022 or 2023 form, it's a very small chance, but if he's a step up from last year and Pogacar fades, you can never know.

Do you honestly think he has a chance of winning the Tour?
Yes. Though I think it’s 50/50, with 50% chance that he either crashes or has a stage where he just sort of hangs in the pack and lets someone ride away with the Tour due to lack of faith or lack of legs (and we’ll debate it I’m sure) OR he hangs in there on each stage, not necessarily dropping his rivals but chipping away. I don’t see a world in which he drops his big rivals by minutes, given who they are. But I could see him gaining some bonus seconds, seconds in mountain sprints, and surprising some in the ITTs and being in the mix. Not saying he has 50% chance of winning; I’d put it lower. Maybe 25/25/25/25 Pog (Giro legs) / Vinge (bad crash) / Rog / Remco + field

Seems like you are in denial of how good Rogla was in that season.
Yes, I’m an alternate universe, he would have raced and won the 2019 Tour, taken Pog more seriously and won the 2020 Tour by taking time where he could before the final ITT (or not crashed in the Dauphine, if we’re really rewriting history), won the 2021 Tour because he was in killer shape and Pog was not better than in 2020, and probably won 2022 as defending champ had he not crashed because Jumbo would have been 100% behind him.

By 2023, I don’t see any way Jumbo could have held Vingegaard back enough for Roglic to win. If nothing else, they would have ridden together and Jonas would have dropped that ITT to win.

This year is the year. Can you feel the stomp?

Seriously, I'm totally sold on Bora at this point. They fully believe in him and support him with the best possible team. Heck, they even managed to get Martinez on the Giro podium. Just please, please no mishaps in the first week.

EDIT: I think the "surprise" for the Tour team is Martinez. It'll be him and the Dauphiné team.
Are you more sold on this than Roglic passing EBH in wins or Pogacar not winning a stage at the Tour last year?

What are the thoughts on Roglic’s PN performance and why he is definitely in much better form now? I want to see him win but I don’t know if we have enough to go off of to say he’s in that great of form?

Because PN was an outlier, not the 'norm'.

I'd say his ITT in Itzulia eased quite a few doubts in my mind. I just want to see him at his normal level again.

And please no incidents either.

He looked very strong in Itzulia, where he won the ITT in a very strong field, despite making a mistake in one of the corners.

Wrong. Prologues or short ITT are not a benchmark for assess a rider's level. Contador won a "mountain prologue" in 2016 Paris Nice and he was cooked by Froome in the mountains.

This is Primož Roglič we're talking about, aka keep Contador out of this.

An ITT performance like the one in Itzulia absolutely is a benchmark for this rider, especially since the gap would have been humongous without his route mistake.

Roglic is always a monster in this type of TT. Don't be fooled by him. We can say the opposite of Vingegaard. Dauphiné will give us a clear picture and I believe he will deliver.

I was actually a little surprised that he couldn't contest the bunch sprint on stage 2. He said he wanted to try but couldn't. His TT was really, really good but I still want to see him be good in a road stage this year.

Then again, they did say it was all about the Tour this season.

Probably it was a wise decision not to take a risk against a bunch of 5th tier riders in the narrow damp finish. As none of the GC guys did.

Roglic is going for a one race peak instead of trying to win every race at Jumbo. Wouldn’t that explain his PN

If you don't believe, you shouldn't be here. That's a quote from other fellow Slovenian in a different sport.
Otherwise, what's the point of even showing up?

Show up, do what you can. Oh and don't crash. That's it.
