Now the most important thing, why do we have so many sprint stages? They made already 2 decisions that decrease the risk of massive crashes (1 - 8 riders per team; 2 - Tough first stages) but they still don't understand we HAVE SO MANY SPRINT STAGES!! WHY?
EDIT: Wrong thread

yes, today wouldve been a good day to have a breakaway stage with a calm peloton. there's so many sprints so Cavendish could have a lot of chances to break the record.

Ok, that was really bad luck. It was more or less directly in front of him.

But since I was not watching - why didn't they make it back way closer? It was the full team (apart from Hindley - why didn't he wait)? Seems like a huge gap. Was Roglic unable to get up quicker (which would be a very bad sign)?

I could react quite bitterly about the whole Cavendish stuff but at the moment the whole thing is still too raw. The fact it's Lutsenko who went down when he's a climber who shouldn't even be part of a sprint train is just the icing on the WTF cake.

I guess the reality check which awaits Cav is the fact... no one really cares about his record. It was fun folklore for five minutes but within a few days after the Tour Sir Mark Cavendish will be just another knighted British sports champ along with all the others, like Sir Bradley Wiggins & co.

Rogla wasn't able to ride faster. The team would have dropped him if they went full gas.

can I say (as a remco fan and someone who thinks yesterday's ruling was absolutely ludicrous) I am very sad that Rog has crashed. I was really enjoying the fab four coming through for us fans!

now, those Rog fans claiming Remco fans are all rejoicing, are painting with a very broad brush and likely projecting. I expect those same posters will likely throw a party on here when Remco eventually succumbs to his eventual bad day in the mountains. they will be overjoyed and relish telling Remco fans "I told you so".

the way I look at it is that both Rog and Remco provide a slightly more human counterpoint to the two ETs.

To celebrate a rival being unable to tolerate the fatigue of the Tour is not the same as celebrating a crash. BS false equivalence.

sure, you take every chance you get to sh*t on him and then play it off with this fake nice guy crap.
I’ve said last year I don’t think he can come back since he’s older and the injuries. I then gave him credit for his Giro TT and Angliru. I’ve never talked bad on his riding style or held it against him or called him a wheel sucker.

You are acting worse than that.
For just finding out when I clicked on his thread that he crashed and that was the last post on the page? I asked genuine question and I get attacked saying I’m popping the champagne.

Mostly two of them.
