Teams & Riders Everybody needs a little bit of Roglstomp in their lives

If you insist on a deep dive into this 'issue' (despite many of us giving you repeated explanations regarding the how, why, where and logic behind his comments), it really derives from the fact no one actually knows what his level is. And he's probably much happier with it that way.

The 'drivel' as you call it could even be true. For real. Maybe he really hasn't looked at the profiles closely because he feels terrible right now? I mean there's a point where people need to realize Rog's performances can be extremely unpredictable to viewers because he keeps the truth about his condition close to his chest. We didn't see his complete collapse in the Giro coming, did we? He kept that one quiet. He has a poker face and uses it in interviews as well.

So eyes wide open. That's what following this rider in GT's (especially the Tour) requires.
None of that is an "issue" for me. I just thought his comments insulted the intelligence of anyone within earshot.

Nothing more to read into them, I thought my comments were fairly direct and unambiguous. YMMV. Cheers.

I hope Bora fans, and German fans in general, don't jump on the bandwagon if, for whatever reason, Roglic survives the first week and proves he has podium legs (I think the latter is quite likely if the former happens), because in general in every social platform, you tend to show little patience or gratitude towards Primoz, as if he were one of the team's main problems. The reality is that despite all his falls and retirements since he arrived in 2024, he has given the team a Grand Tour, a Dauphiné and a Volta a Catalunya, so far more than the rest of the team has achieved in years.
The brought him in to win the Tour. He can't win the Tour. Everything else doesn't really matter to Denk. As he has no loyalty to riders he will cut Roglic at the first opportunity a better prospect shows up.

While we are at excuses, cycling world in general is for the most part saying only Pogi or Jonas can win the Tour 2025, nobody else. Others are hence in the position if they would even try to find excuses, what would be the point? As the response would be somewhere in the lines of, we know, it was more of a rhetorical question.

@zlev11

It's rather normal behaviour, the day before the Tour starts.

@Filippo_3467

It's life, but for now lets worry about winning this thing, after we can worry about such things if at next edition Rogla will have stronger support in mountains, or not. We'll see.

Every time I've hear him he says something like 'we bought him to podium in WT races'. Certainly never specifically to win Le Tour. But Denk has no loyalty. Primoz still has a year on his contract but like ski jumping I think he's had his fill of injuries in this sport.

Aldag says Lipowitz' job is stay close to Rog on the climbs and learn.

So it begins. Strap in fellow Roglic fans for a nerve wracking first week at the least. He hasn't finished a tour since that infamous 2020 final TT. Time to put that stat to bed!

I'm counting on a good battle with him and Remco. That thread needs new life

Mood? Apprehensive.

Expectations? Zero.

Hope? To see Rog get through this TdF with something positive, in whatever form that might be. Whether it's by winning a stage or doing better in GC than people think.

Hmm... why are fans of other riders suddenly coming in here and getting all angsty about Rog's stereotypical media responses..?

You guys can't make up your minds. According to popular consensus, last week after the team selection was announced, Red Bull Bora had abandoned Rog as leader and gone with Lipowitz for GC and Meus for stages, and now Rog is a liar and fake because he just dodged questions about the profile of the race in a flippant manner - as always - whilst playing down his chances.

I really don't see what the drama is here.
His responses aren't stereotypical, they are fake. The ah, shucks, we didn't know there are multiple stages in a GT can only play for a short run.

IMO, he would be better off taking a cue from American football player Beast Mode Lynch, and just answer every question with "I'm just here so I don't get fined."

IMO, a much better answer to a question about the first week would be to talk about looking at every piece of traffic furniture to ensure a safe week.

True enough if you ask me to list my favorite racers, PR is not on my top five, mostly because of his off the bike persona. That being said, I would love to see him being a big player at the top pf the GC.

I don't know why he's even at the start. Probably because the team forced him. He doesn't seem to care in every interview and also on the bike. Could be that his training data is so bad that he knows he's getting his ass kicked by even the third tier gc guys. Another disasterclass of course from the team as well.

So we go from polls like "when will he crash" to him just taking it nice and safe and still people are panicking?

The Tour starts on Hautacam. Whether you give Vingegaard and Pogacar a 38 minute headstart before then or not matters not.

It's the principle of it as much as the time loss. I mean seriously, we bend over backwards to accommodate a sprinter in the team because okay, Rog isn't favorite. That's fine. It's okay to have options.

But saving the team so that Meeus can sprint for 39th? Haha! Quick Step did the exact same thing with Merlier so it might be something Aldag and the Quick Step sporting directors had for breakfast.

Roofies maybe.
