And this explains why, IMO he's a true racer. He enjoys the preparation, the tactics and accepts the outcomes with a share of humility and grace. That others find it necessary to start a thread, separate of this one to outline his slide to retirement is painful to see. Negativity gets clicks more than accomplishment, it seems.

After 20 years Adria Mobil won't be the title sponsor of an iconic cycling team from Slovenia that launched careers of Primož Roglič, Jani Brajkovič, Marco Haller, Marko Kump, Dušan Rajović, Domen Novak, Gal Glivar, Jakob Omrzel, Žak Eržen, Anže Ravbar ...

Tadej Pogacar is easy gratification on a bike.

Primoz Roglic is a philosophy lesson that occasionally falls off his bike.

A pity that Primoz is not riding today in Piemonte to be rested for Lombardia, this year parcours is quite godd for him and is definitely in enough shape to contest the win here, also that Oropa one day race in Sunday was a perfect opportunity for him to raise the arms (or stop the powermeter in cool fashion) one last time this season.
I´m getting to a point were I prefer see him winning anything than fight for a top 5 in a big race like Lombardy.

Lombardia podium >> Piemonte win. And Piemonte win isn't easy by any stretch. He's struggled with the Stomp since Catalunya,

If he makes the podium yes, but I think is more realistic a place between 5th and 9th than a podium, not because prime/decline reason just becuase I think he'll take a risk and go full throttle on the Ganda Pass to be in the fight and he'll explode a bit if he has to chase with Remco for example.

Regarding Piemonte, you may be right, but with those 2-3 km at 9% that will be done twice, I think the UAE can turn it into a sort of 180 km mountain stage. I think without Remco, Pidock, and obviously Pogi, only Roglic (if he were to race) could keep up with Del Toro, and he wouldn't be the favorite in a sprint, but you never know, the Volta sprint might appear on a less demanding day like today.

By the way, keep an eye on Lorenzo Finn today, taking over Primoz's role...

Is this for real? The race is just between those 4 guys with no one else? 8km ITT and a circuit race? Is this a fake race like those post Tour crits or did Vingegaard really sign up to be humiliated?

It does beg the question, how come Rogla was invited, past peak and considering he already retired, due to i guess the age.

When an athlete starts winning morally or imaginatively the competitions that he doesn't compete in because he doesn't have options in which to compete, it starts to become a problem and it means that a retirement is near.

That or he might retire some of the riders on Saturday, with Rogla you never really know.
