From franchise runner to “mode vacado”: Primoz Roglic’s worrying metamorphosis
"It’s incredible the speed with which Primoz Roglic went from franchise runner to anonymity within Red Bull BORA. And apart from his relaxed appearance and measured statements, the indications point to a break between the Slovenian and the formation that, from his signing, empowered Lipowitz and Pellizzari, and signed Remco. The last few races the former skier went on one side and his teammates on the other, at least when it comes to tactics."

I find it quite sad to see him playing the tourist like this and it also feels completely unnecessary if it is deliberate.

If it is deliberate because of the Vuelta he could have had a peak in March/April without jeopardizing his Vuelta bid. But with the way he is going now his final 1,5 season have a good chance of becoming a farce if his Vuelta bid somehow fails.

"Roglic bad teammate" just sells to the masses in similar ways that pizzagate did. They wanna believe bs so they'll click and spread bs.

Is he in decline or just lazy? You can't have it both ways! If he is just lazy maybe he can win the tour after all if he just trained, given his base level from sitting on the couch 😂
I think he lacks motivation. That implies that he trains less than what is needed and I am not sure about his recovery either.

I think he is more so coming to terms that he is not the strongest rider in his team anymore and it is affecting him. I would say his age matters, of course, but I dont feel like he is liking his own situation at the team at the moment. Not that he is "lazy".

I can see why Roglic might be a little frustrated recently. His first race he has Pellizzari with him who has already been racing for well over a month, who is in great form, going into the race with own ambitions. Roglic finds himself in an awkward spot when he is 3rd in GC, but his teammate is leading the race. Ends up finishing 5th overall.

Then he gets sent to two consecutive races with Lipo after that, who showed he was stronger in the last GT and coming into form as well. Roglic maybe not being in his best form and instead of racing for himself, or trying to get into form, gets forced into dom duties.

They have not given him much room or opportunity. Little assurance that they believe in him. Pitting him against, or with, these younger guys on the rise. It adds some unnecessary competition and distractions going in to each race. It adds pressure and is a blow to his confidence when things happen the way they do.

Or one can say, he hasnt showed why he should still get leadership over the younger riders. It becomes a fight on the road each race. It doesnt suit Roglic to have it that way within the team.

It is the second time he is experiencing this. First at Visma with Vinge surpassing him. Now both Pellizzari and Lipo seems to have surpassed him at RB.

Of course, the team has to manage all their riders and it makes sense to invest in the younger guys.

However, Roglic needs to be sole leader and feel like he has full support to perform imo. He hasnt gotten this for a few consecutive races now. Can he turn his season around and get sole leadership for Vuelta? We will see.

Also wondering if he will continue after the season and what would be suitable if he does.

And where tf is this coming from, do you train with him? After the tough Itzulia, he took a couple of days off, which is completely normal, because he's been racing since T-A. And he trained even during this mini family vacation, as you can see from his IG reel. You guys really don't know what else you could come up with

Where's the missing 40 %?

Other part of the team and some riders that performed better in the past.

As for Rogla, his approach, leadership ... Realistically this is the best to pull out of the current situation. RBH for example isn't keen to sacrifice Lipo, Giulio or Remco for Rogličes ambitions. So the question remains, on who are they prepared to sacrifice for that. And if the name comes up is that rider capable to support Rogla on the ultimate climb. Likely not. So for the time being i feel it makes sense to grow this team further, utilise the reserves, and when the team will be good enough that likely will put Rogla in more favourable position again. We'll see.
