He seems to be targeting a top 15 or 20, which is beyond sad for someone like him.
His number one priority is a stage win. He'll fight it out at every MTF because as Mayo said he enjoys it, and likes the challenge and perhaps the feeling of beating known climbing specialists on mountain terrain. If he has no stage win after the two basque stages - I expect him to win one of those, probably the Bilbao one - then he'll start to go in the break, maybe fight for metas volantes and the points jersey and try to get a stage like that. It would've been easier had Bonifazio not retired from the race as Felline could've gone in the break on the flatter stages of the third week and Bonifazio saved for the sprint. Now Trek may value a certain top 5 as better value than an unlikely win. Depends on those two stages on Thursday and Friday.

My only problem with him is that he never gets in breaks. He could win a lot of GT stages especially in the third week. I don't think he's specifically targeting a top20.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
He will get his stage win, I'm sure of it. Just like Nizzolo eventually got his stage win in the Giro, before it was robbed from him. Tomorrow is another good opportunity, be it as part of the break or in a reduced bunch sprint.

What a rider he is, Felline. Should have a great chance to grab some wins in the autumn classics if he can carry this shape.

I love him but still an underachiever. He's too good to win so few races.
That being said, monster performance yesterday. Something he will never forget.

points jersey?
Yes, for tomorrow at least. 7 points on a tired Bala, 3 on Quintana. Bala will sprint tomorrow, Quintana will not, so Felline has to finish at least 3rd tomorrow to guarantee it.

Just stay on his wheel and beat him to sprint. If he cant beat Bala in a sprint he doesnt deserve the *** jersey anyway

Wow that was a great performance from Felline (again!). He was so close to making it back to the front duo. I'm sure he would have won if he had regained contact. Anyway, the points jersey looks secured, since he's a better sprinter than Valverde. Good job!.

Sooo close, that sucks. :(
Still he rode a great Vuelta and has a great shoot at winning the points jersey, for someone who suffered a fracture of the base of the scull in AGR he really bounced back and still had a great 2nd half of the season.
He really is a great allrounder with great recovery, one hell of a rider.

Great performance! Was very surprising to see him alone in 4th.
Such a great rider. He can do anything.

Yes, he's one of the very few real allrounders, he's a bit like Wellens or Geraint with a better sprint.

Trek look really nicely set up for all the spring classics now. It's all been about Cancellara for so long, but now with Degenkolb joining, Stuyven and Theuns improving, and Felline looking ridiculously good, they have a really rounded team for the spring. All of them have the potential to stay near the front and all of them would be very dangerous in a sprint - great options.
