On what grounds? No one wants to end up like Roman Polanski. If the Feds want to talk to with you, you don't ignore them and stay aboard. You come home and speak with them. You don't tell them you'll be home in 30 days time. You face the music. Because if you don't they have habit of turning up to your house and busting down the door and tearing the place apart looking for evidence.

They also make you do stuff like this. Confession with tears:

Hog, hog, hog...

Don't you know that won't happen? Word on the street is that Lance's lawyers are already ready for those fed "***"..

A little OT, but what are the chances that the feds will be able to uncover financial irregularities with the Postal and Disco teams. The sport is corrupt at every level. I have a hard time imagining that Bruyneel did not engage in some self dealing it not outright embezzlement. Financial shenanigans seem to be standard operating procedure for teams.

You cannot "lawyer up". No chance. You cannot drag out proceedings. You cannot dodge the calls to speak. You have front up and respond. You cannot evade questions. Why? Because if you don’t respond they will bust you for not cooperating with a federal investigation. If you lie they will bust you for that. You cannot avoid them. You only have one choice.

Probably not that important. Once it is established that the team had organized doping, as in, enough former USPS riders corroborate the Landis allegation, it will be short hop, skip, and jump over to bring a fraud charge from the govt.

The govt would not bring this fella in unless there was more than Landis. Corroboration of the allegations and/or other physical evidence could be a reason to now bring in the prosecutor.

The Feds will squeeze the others. Once Dave Z falls, Hincapie will follow, then Levi. What will Lance do then? He cannot keep lying when every member of team has confessed for personal immunity. He's totally farked. I need to close my eyes because I can’t look.

Well, isn't this a development? Another step forward in this situation.

To the fanboys... please, explain how this means nothing, is nothing, nothing to see, move along.

A few questions.

Which fanboys said there was nothing to see here? Can you give the link?

Isn't this a different guy to the guy that was supposed to be taking the case and was particularly good at going after sportsmen? Are you disappointed that the leaks turned out to be only partly true?

And lastly, I note there are a lot of attacks on one rider and the fans of that rider. This is supposed to be about anti doping, right?

That's probably what Scott Rothstein thought. He just got fifty years.

Sorry for highlighting the obvious flaw in your argument....... I guess you are a little excited and you 'came' to your conclusion to quicky.

I am interested in what most people hope will happen here.

Do we want Armstrong and most of his former team to go to prison? That pro cycling is made against the law in the US until there can be stricter guide lines?

What's the desired end game? I'm curious as to what it is that people really want.

You know, you might at least try reading something before you jump on here spouting complete idiocy.

For the fan boys and third graders in the audience, Jeff Novitsky is an investigator with the FDA (formerly with the IRS). He is the guy "particularly good at going after sportsmen". Once again he is an investigator (like a cop for the kids listening in), not a prosecutor.

Doug Miller, on the other hand (and I'm typing verrrrrry slooooooowly here), is the Federal Prosecutor assigned to prosecute any crimes uncovered during the Novitsky investigation.

In review:

Novitsky = Investgator (cop)

Miller = Prosecutor (DA).

Any idea when? And for those of us who are ignorant in legal proceedings and the like, do they have the power to do this at this point and on what grounds? Thanks.

My fairly limited understanding of these cases is that it can take up to 18 months before charges are brought. The entire case, if it proceeds, could take years to conclude. Then you have the appeals after that. It's a endless process.

Whatever happens it's unlikely to have any effect on this years tour. Personally as a fan I'm pleased about that - whatever people think of Armstrong and co, a lot of people around the world want to see him at the tour. It would be ashame to disappoint cycling fans from the spectacle of him doing what will be his last tour anyway.

Well there's no need to be patronising about it. The link didn't work.

Managed to go to the site itself and read it now.

I see it's still not actually an official announcement. Strange how the legal system and media work in the US. Why can't they just be above board and openly announce they are investigating? All seems a bit shifty and underhand the way they use the media to do their job for them. If there is a big case out there with a big name, these boys want their names in the press. That's how it comes across.

Someone has been abusing the system for personal financial gain. I.e. fraud in a legal sense. Someone else in the cycling circles even called it the greatest fraud in US sporting history. Many want that fraud to be exposed. Would help show young riders it's not a good role model to live you life through lies - a nobel cause, reason enough, a good idea?

What would be your desired outcome? Status quo?
