Wait, what?

You do know you're talking about a brutal dictator who was overthrown decades ago and who is still hated to the point of foaming at the mouth by basically the entire population.

;)

He was a dictator yes. Faiir enough. perhaps i shouldnt have made the point. I just always see Salazar as little Franco ( and i see Portugal as Spanish coastal defense against erosion;):p) and Franco is still popular in sections of Spain. as is tito in parts of yugoslavaia and salazar in parts of Portugal actually

Here's how the portuguese see the Spanish:

Two options: the Spanish on one side....the Fish on the other....so we chose the least smelly ones.

And that's how we explored the world and became celebrated sailors :p

Ouch... Could've easily been 6-0 by now.

What will the Dear Leader say of this? I imagine a week or two of forced labour for the team when they get back will say plenty.

Poor Cristiano... He still can't score. On the pitch, that is. For him the 2nd most important type of scoring.

The 24 players will all be reprimanded, then every single one of the 25 will be tortured, they will each dig their own grave, and the 26 graves will be filled with the bodies of all 27 players.

There will be a joint funeral for all 28.

Finally the match i have been waiting for. a 1 sided thrashing.

This is bad news for cote divoir, though. They need to beat N korea by x + 2 with x being portugese goal difference after this match.

And maybe Brazil will decide to punish ivory coast for yesterday by arranging a draw with portugal.

This joke is far too intellectual for me.

I'll explain

4 of the 23 koreans "disappeared", right?

Well, yesterday they were "found"....and all 24 of them trained together without explanation.

No, that's not a typo.

International media is currently torn between puzzlement and laughter.
Personally, I'm going with the "they were replaced by robots" theory.

You didn't know? They disappeared before the Brazil game. Rumour is they ran away, but the koreans refuse to comment on this.

Bafflingly, yesterday they were back with no explanation, and more bafflingly, there were 24 of them instead of 23.

It makes very little sense, but it's not a joke.

.

I dont know... I imagine history and culture would dictate Portugal and Brazil have a feisty rivalry.

That said I honestly do imagine most Brazillian players would like to give the Ivorians some pay-back too.

is it? Real madrid v almeria. Ronaldo dives for penalty. Ronaldo misses penalty. Benzema score rebound. Team goes to celebrate with Benzema. Ronaldo stays grounded in penalty area and sobs uncontrolably.

true story

The most important type of scoring for Cristiano is the scoring he does after the game.

i imagine history would dictate Germany and Austria would have a fierce rivalry.

World cup 1982
Germany v austria. If Germany dont win Germany are out. If Germany win by 2 goals or more Austria are out. If Germany win exactly 1-0 both sides go through and Algeria are out.
5 minutes in Austria let Germany score a goal. For the remainder of the game the teams sit on the half way line and have a tea party, waiting for the final whistle to confirm they are through.

A draw here would send Portugal through (what they want) and let Brazil top group (what they want).

I just think it would be funny if after yesteday Brazil had the last laugh and ivory coast could do nothing about it.

ps i wasnt born then just in case ppl think i actually remember it.

Well, you can't have a million rivalries. Everyone wants to be Germany's rival. At least the Dutch are primus inter pares in that department.

Every Pole knows that. Just like every Englishman thinks Germany consider them to be their great adversary.

But its the Dutch. Suck it.

I watched that match on TV and I recall it perfectly. The public booed at the players and waved bank notes at them :D

It was a shame that deserved the two teams out and banned from FIFA tournaments for a while.
