Not sure about what the others think but it gave me goosebumbs when they had the flags of the competing nations in the opening ceremony and I saw both the Australian and NZ flags........not in my wilest dreams did I think we would both make the same WC :D

EDIT: Mexico starting the better - nerves by the hosts? and frankly who can blame them!

It's still a bit odd to have them both and TBH I think they should look into that qualification section again. Australia is competing in Asia but New Zealand is still in Oceania with Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands right?

Why would they allow that?

But if you're from there I can imagine it's a special feeling.

Only Football/Soccer has Oceania and Asia seperate - everywhere I know is been Australiasia(sp?) so its one of those anomolies i guess

We are accused of being boring - but id rather quaify as a "boring" team then be exciting and not qualify. Before 2006, we have had our hearts broken time and time again being agonisingly close even when we were the team playing more attractive of the two.

I cant wait for our 3 games - weve ben braded boring, given no hope, shown no respect and labled as the worst team of the group........bring it on I say as we are going to suprise a hell of alot of people.

Not the best of halves so far. The atmosphere is great though, which is always good during the African Nation's Cup. The ref is giving SAF the homer calls, of course.

Of those currently on the pitch, Siphiwe Tshabalala has the coolest name.

I don't understand how that was offside. South Africa had a player on the line. The goal should have counted.

1 guy left, he was behind the keeper.

^ yeah the goalie is generally forgotten in the offside rule.
I actually thought it was a good half, maybe a bit messy at times.

Well, it's on the way...

Bit disappointed but Mexico deserved the point.
Tonight France will lose :)

Second half was better than the first, though there was some slightly sloppy play at times. South Africa looked to be the better side in the match at times, which actually surprised me a little. Not that I expected Mexico to be a 90 minute tour de force, but I thought they would be a bit better at imposing their will against South Africa.
