I think you were the one who was afraid we were gonna choke in the first match, so I say: don't trust your instincts.

This match is in the bag for the Netherlands.

should perhaps try to save players for the Brazil/ Chille quater final

Saving the best players for the quarter-finals is pointless. Everyone should know by now that the final will be Brazil vs Argentina, and Argentina will win ;)

I wonder in what minute Robben will have to leave the field injured.

self inflicted pessismism. Assume the worst so your not too disapointed if it happens, and more excited if it doesnt.

nice tactic;)

poor first half.
the dutch were ok until they scored. from that point it was pretty poor.

The distribution from defense was terrible at best.
From defense to midfield there was no imagination, and the slovaks got lots of easy possession.

I'm really disappointed.
These guys are really capable of playing good football, but this 'patient' bullsh!t is making us look like crap. I wanna win, but I get little joy winning in this manner.

That being said, I think the dutch are just too good for slovakia, but improvements must be made to have a hope against brazil or even chile.

It's not good, but it ain't horrible (like Brazil-Portugal). Van Persie needs to leave the field ASAP. He clearly has no form whatsoever. Huntelaar might actually be a good sub at this point, since we're actually getting near the box with some regularity this game, and van P.'s 'lonesome wanderer' act is not getting us any results.

I totally disagree

it isn't RvP. He has no supply or construction behind him.
Trust me, a striker can do little with what has been given to him. When he has been involved he hasn't looked bad, he has looked dangerous imo.

I've been saying this since the first match. Van Persie is not a striker. Maybe he does well in a fine tuned Arsenal system, but we need a guy who's always at the right position at the right time.

Hunterlaar is said to score from 'alle hoeken en standen' in training and made a typical strikers goal already.
This would bring this team what it lacks so far.
Van Persie can even move to the wing afaic, I think he'll do a lot better there.

what a waste from witek.
Great save but at this level strikers have to score those.
WHAT A WASTE.
Thanks a lot d**khead. you could have made this match interesting. If they dont score i hope that moment stays with him in his nightmares

and this moment too.

Is this really what those officials disallowed italies goals for. We could have had a good match.

Ive been complaining that spain, france and england have had easy draws, yet right in front of me, the Netherlands have been pretty much defaulted into the qf. Hopefully some one will give them a challenge. Come on Brazil. Now that could be good match.

You should switch your mind. It's true that some draws look easier than others, but FIFA has given clear instructions to referees on who should benefit from their mistakes. As of today, they've also given instructions to video operators not to replay on the screen any action that may be subject to discussion.

Yay. Good result, shame about the penalty.

All those defensive lapses which we got away with until the 94th minute will cost us though. Brazil will slaughter us. Maicon will eat our left flank for breakfast and have Stekelenburg for tea.

All we can hope now is that Chile can pull off a miracle, but I doubt it.

Yep, the last time we faced a serious well playing opponent we got destroyed.

Still, we can beat Brazil on any given day. After that it's prolly Uruguay and then the final.
If we don't win this there will for once be no excuses possible.
2 lucky wins is all we need.

He got plenty of balls today, in good positions too. He just isn't fit or sharp enough to do anything with it. At least Kuyt is playing his heart out and is creating lots of stuff. He's my man of the tournament so far from the Dutch

Will will have two left backs that match, Bronckhorst and Kuyt.

The rest of what your saying could also be said about Brazil. They're generally better than us, but impressive or unbeatable? Hell no.

Timing is perfect though, getting thrown out of the tournament a day before Le Tour starts :D

^ in the first half he looked sharp, when getting involved. after the goal there was nothing for him, the defense were playing like the British and just kicking the ball up the ground.
---

I gotta be honest the def/and def-midfielders were pretty poor today, they played the ball back rather then positive play on so many occasions unnecessary. Van bommel at one stage had ten yards of space in front of him, and turned back and played the ball to the pressured defense... wtf was that.

Their mentality was lazy, and arrogant.

Against brazil/chile they have to play with a lot more urgency.

I think they will beat brazil to be honest.. and make the final.
But will lose to Argentina/Spain.

HOWEVEER AT -keyword- times, the dutch did look really dangerous and good when attacking. They just didn't press on...

BTW regarding brazil -- they too have been hot/cold in their matches. And their defense has flaws also.

Kuyt is ok, but he was pretty bad in--I don't even remember which game. Van Bommel, on the other hand, has been excellent. He's definitely da man for Holland right now. And without being booked.

i don't think he was good today.
He was v. good in the group stages, but today, he gave a lot of possession away, and except for winning a lot of fouls was not positive at all.

Kuyt was best on ground today-- he does so much work.
Robben had a good game too, and sniejder imo was solid.

Gio was AWFUL today

RE RvP- I agree he is much better on the right, then a lone striker. But to relegate him to the bench feels wrong.

Have we seen a different game? To me, Van Bommel was man of the match. Gio was not too bad, Van der Wiel was awful.

Penalty kick in the last minute. Stekelenburg booked. One of those moments where it is a penalty, but the culprit really can't do much about it, unless he cuts off his arm.
