Tulio and the Japanese goalie should take their feud elsewhere... It'll cost the Japanese the game at this rate :p:p:p

The group phase had too many boring matches, but the round of the last 16 hasn't got anyone as bad as this Paraguay-Japan.

seems like only yesterday the same zzzzzzzzz word was used to describe the netherlands match.

Oh wait it was yesterday. So boring it felt like it started a long time ago.

At least they were able to score some goals.

I am completely new to the football thing, but I must say I am enthralled now. I love how you can tell the differences in style between the nations. Brazil is incredible to watch, love the athleticism and all around ability (defense too, even though they don't look like they play it). Ghana is incredibly quick. Germany and Netherlands look very impressive too. (At least to this new fan). I must say I was rooting for Japan this last game, they at least seemed to be trying to score. Anway, don't have much to add except I am enjoying this.:)

despite the boring nature of the match it was the neccesary result, as spain/portugal vs japan was not a match fit for the qf of a world cup.

As for the waterworks, most people handle life death situations better than those players handled a last 16 exit.

Not really, that was the most boring match to date. I am enjoying the World Cup.

when did you start watching. If it was after the group stages, just the last 16, i can understand. They have been ok.
If it was before that.
good god.

Just started watching a few matches in the first rounds. USA v. England and a couple of others. I found the different styles of play interesting, when comparing say Brazil and Spain to USA and England. I admittedly don't know much about the game, but I appreciate the athleticism in some of the teams. I have only been exposed to MSL games which quite frankly I find extremely boring. I like the one touch passing and teamwork exhibited in these games. Again, this is coming from a new spectator so take it for what you will.

you do have a point.
Teams like Spain and Chille play a certain way because they dont have size so they need to make it up in speed while teams like Germany and England have huge players everywhere so need to play a different game. Also south american footballers often learn on the streets rather than in academies. There is a difference between the teams though not always.

Unfortunately international competitions come about every few years and 99% of football is club level. At club level brazilians play with english play witjh spanish play with japanese... you get my point. No difference in style. Hence why you might find mls more boring.

COME ON Portugal!!!

Last world cup, Ronaldo played for the most hated team in the land, Man utd and did himself no favours by cheating england out. Maybe this year hell do the same against spain. hes probably hated in catalunia, and hes already getting booed.

Heh. funny. Entirely spanish-speaking refereeing team, but Portugal getting the calls, so far.

Coentrão's penalty not given, Ronaldo's foul over Casillas not given.

Game is still pretty good to watch though.

Not trying to start a fight or anything, but what incident are you talking about? I don't remember anything like that.

Just be glad you don't have to constantly hear about him on TV every living minute. It makes him very easy to hate.

I'm already having Robben ovelroad. I can only assume it's over 9000 times worse.

Portugal just got away pretty good twice.

/edit: ...and third times a charm. 1-0 Spain
