I'm already having Robben ovelroad. I can only assume it's over 9000 times worse.

Portugal just got away pretty good twice.

/edit: ...and third times a charm. 1-0 Spain

From watching the news I've pretty much gathered that Robben represents the Second Coming of the Messiah. :p

Villa can **** off if he thinks he getting the Golden Boot, ****.

Wish Portugal could've won that. Mainly for the above reason though.

Can you phrase that in the form of a question?

Can't you deny you don't disagree with me?

I'm just having fun now with the comments of Luis Aragonés in Al-Jazeera TV posted on the web. He was surprised with the way Spain played in the second half :D

Just be glad you don't have to constantly hear about him on TV every living minute. It makes him very easy to hate.

In this country (the Uk that is), messiah status is reserved entirely for the current president of the United States, though they are not yet sure if it is second coming, or if Obama is actually the real messiah, with the previous one having been a mere distraction, so I know what it feels like to have a celebrity forced into every aspect of daily life.
I can imagine what its like, especially in Portugal with Ronaldo. When Beckham was a decent player, they actually redid a Jesus and Mary paintings into Beckham and his spice girl wife. When the England squad departed for the world cup, sky news had a reporter standing half a mile outside heathrow, who got a orgasm when he saw a dot in the distance, which he pointed to and claimed was the plane with England players on. This was breaking news. these days pretty much the only way to get a knighthood (supposed to be a major honour) is to be a celebrity or an athlete and footballers are both. When a radio presenter critiscised lampard for neglecting his kids, he received hundreds of death threats for daring to critiscise a footballer.
The fact that England doesn’t have a robben or a ronaldo is a blessing. They tried it with rooney but he disappointed.

so was spains goal offside?

Has anyone noticed the major victory of this world cup?

Nike

Their advert.

Drogba
Cannavaro
Ribbery
Rooney
Ronaldihno
Ronaldo

all invision the luxuries from heaven and earth that will greet them (they pretty much become kings of the world) if they put in that one performance to win the world cup.

The cheesy slogan is write the future.

They are all out:D:D:D

After their poor performance at the World Cup, the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan (yes, that really is his name) has banned the national team from competing for two years.

All I have to say is how awesome the name is.

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of him where he's not wearing a giant black fedora.... It's weird. It makes him look more like a gangster than a head of state, but whatever. I think he also made a comment along the lines of "Nigeria had better win the World Cup"... Or something similar.

Either way, not having the national team play competitive footbal for two years is the perfect way to get them to play better in the future :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I learned something new today.

Americans did NOT invent the term Soccer in deference to American Football...a term which we Americans are often derided for by many...not the least of which, the Brits :D

Clive Toye (a Brit) said:
Those assembled became the founding members of the Football Association (which still oversees the game in England to this day). And they decided to call their code Association Football, to differentiate it from Rugby Football.

A quirk of British culture is the permanent need to familiarize names by shortening them. “My friend Brian Johnston was Johnners,” said Toye. “They took the third, fourth and fifth letters of Association and called it SOCcer. So there you are.”

So forget that English condescension and carry on calling it soccer, safe in the knowledge that you’re more in tune with the roots of the sport than those mocking Brits.

Its been a nice three weeks or so... But the Netherlands has reached the end of the line today. Brazil will smack Oranje so badly that even the Dutch will forget who Robben and Sneijder are... I'm going with 4-0 or so for Brazil.

Well, i'm off to get drunk with friends and then watch the game. Should soften the blow.

Are you using that technique of thinking they are going to lose so they will win?

To people who say they hope for the best, Senneca says prepare for the worst.

hes been doing it 3 weeks running.
Then again, japan, denmark cameroon and slovakia were slightly easier than brazil.
