i hope julio cesar gets ALL of the blame for this. ALL of it. If they had anyone else in goal they would have been through.

Well aren't we seeing some pretty terrible defending by the Brazilians?

Good for the Dutch, one of the more interesting teams to watch IMO.

I imagine Brazil will take their revenge on the manager, not the players. Melo's own goal was bad enough, but that ridiculous stomp was even worse. Considering all the talent in that country I don't think I'd put him back on the national team.

I just read that whenever in the past the Netherlands knocked out Brasil, Germany won the cup. :D

Don't know whether that's true or not.
Has to be the distant past, as the last time we beat Brazil was in 1974, and that wasn't in the knockout phase.

Brazil were doing so well until the cesar mistake, i couldnt see them losing.
melos red was meaningless. Brazil were not getting back into that with 11 anyway.

I care because i really hate hero worship, and winning the world cup is unfortunately in europe seen as the greatest thing a human being can possibly achieve. I dont mind it so much when Brazil win it because they come from abject poverty, but if Spain win it i will have to put up with posters of torres and nike in every street, on every train, in every newspaper. etc I dont mind holland but they have absolutely no chance of beating spain in the final.

Brazils loss here means Spain probably now have about a 60% chance of winning this.

Yes we do. When Holland gets to play football, rather than being swamped in a sea of defenders, we can beat anyone. I'm not saying they will, I'm saying they have a chance.

I'm just hoping Van Persie finds some sort of form before entering the final.

Amazing stuff. That last 20 minutes was so tense. Think the final will be '78 again. but Holland to win.

Pity that Huntelaar ****ed up when Stekelenburg hit that long ball right to their penalty area near the end..
