2nd half of FRA-ECU will be interesting. With this lineup and tactics France won't win imo.Unfortunetely the other match looks more or less decided.

Suarez is a victim of his own uncontrollable emotional impulses. More or less he's a case for psychiatrists. He harms himself and obviously, he must be pretty desperate of that. Quite interesting topic: http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/10984370/portrait-serial-winner-luis-suarez-soccer-most-beautiful-player
thank you a lot for this link… really, really interesting!

i have to say that i like Suarez on the pitch -- probably even more so after reading that article which explains a lot, both the brilliance and the darkness in the man.

his biting wasn't right and i'm not defending that (he does need to get that particular habit under control), but i'll be really disgusted if he's banned.

the ref didn't see it or call it during the match and that is that… how many bad and/or missed calls have been made in this CM? how many biased? you can't go back and change those, nor can you go back and alter the outcome of the games.

the new goal technology is one thing, but if you take away the imperfections of the game, the foibles of the refs, you'd lose the beauty of the game: its humanness.

i think Suarez needs to be warned and, perhaps, put on probation of sorts -- let him know all eyes are on him… but banning? non.

the ref didn't call it or see it.

So if someone is bitten in the back play he should not be sanctioned ? What if he was punched or kicked ? This is not humaness this is not part of the game. They have to draw the line and he crossed it. He has to get some sort of ban. I wonder how his team mates and coach feel, seeing as though he is their best chance of scoring and is generally a match winner ? Plain stupid.

Looked like there were 4 players offsides on the Iran goal.

what it looked like and what is?.............my girlfriend often points out how she is obviously cleverer than I................ah well? smugly iI knew those things that mattered like the offside rule

not any more

at least I understand why suarez will be banned even in fights there is an understanding that one does not bite

today strangely I would like to see a germany win/farewell USA

.

So I guess the parts of South Korea that are further north should be called North Korea and the areas of North Korea that are near Seoul should be called South Korea? We should probably say Alaska is actually in Canada while we're at it. What about Lesotho? That should be called South Africa, right? I mean, it's completely surrounded by it, after all.

I do hope the Argentinean government isnt reading this:cool:

Nobody is arguing that they should go and change the outcome of the game. You can't do it, as having him sent off would change both teams tactics/movement. What people are arguing is that he should be banned for a disgusting act of biting someone. There is plenty of evidence that he's done it, and he has a prior history.

Suarez is a sensational talent, and great to watch when he sticks to just playing football. He's a disgrace when he acts like this, and needs a lengthy ban to discourage him from any further actions.

If I was the Italian player, I would have gone up to him after the game and put my fist through his nose.

Seems like we need a geography thread, where pedants can discuss these things:D

On last nights France game, two incidents of French playes clearly elbowing there opponents, Valencia raking his studs on French fullback gets him a red card - was it deliberate difficult to say

Seems like France where serioulsy weakened by some of the changes, it is obvouis to see why Debuchy is chosen over Sagna, Koscelny weakens their defence and the biggest miss was Cabaye who makes the team tick.

I expec for the knockout satges they will be beter than last night.

Yea, koscelny is a big weakness, in their previous game they started having problems in defence when he came on.

Argentina have showed again that it's not too hard to score against them but Messi keeps banging them in. The winning goal was a bit lucky. Deflected off a knee. Entertaining game all the same. Also first time I have seen a player get hit by a ball and had his arm broken. Can see why Liverpool are after the Swiss hat trick man. Think he is at Bayern at the moment.

yeah, Les Bleus sucked last night with the changes -- showing they really don't have much depth :( Ecuador was by far the more engaged team and got the ****** end of the stick by the ref, otherwise they probably could have beaten last night's LB squad.

this france team only seems to do well after they've already scored… i really, really miss Ribéry. Benzema can't do it all on his own.

(lol, had to laugh at my own phraseology in the last sentence -- anyone remember 2010?)

i think ecuador played to the best of their abilities (granted, may not be saying much)… whereas france was just flat. they had opportunities, sure, but they hit them straight at the goalkeeper. it wasn't until near the end that they started challenging him.

i'm saying this as a fan of Les Bleus, by the way… i should be used to this from them, but i'm not… i wasn't expecting much when the CM started but they really surprised me in the game against switzerland and i started to hope… silly me.

France were way better, but a bit sloppy... Nigeria should be no prob.
