Worst point of the game the bite of Suarez and the challenge from Marchisio.
Hope Uruguay gets beaten and Suarez gets suspended for the rest of the world cup

The 2 are not mutually exclusive. If Suarez is banned (which will happen) I don't think Uruguay have a chance. Maybe can scrape a win against Colombia - doubtful, but its not the same team without him.

For me that bite won the game for Uruguay. It was a huge psychological blow for the Italians.

If I were Uruguay I would take 10 minutes searching for a goal against 10 man Italy or you're out, over going on in this tournament without the guy who carries the team like not even Messi or Ronaldo could.

Never really paid much attention to soccer before, but if the players turn into zombies and start munching on each other, count me as a fan from now on.

man... could not have gone better for holland. Although I can see us losing against Mexico

*if standings stay this way ofc

This is 2010 all over again. Harder group phase, but instead of Brazil they meet Mexico as the most difficult game until the semis. I can see Mexico winning though.

It really sucks how the South American teams are stacked in that one corner, also for atmosphere in the other matches.

Argentina, Costa Rica and Mexico think you should re-think that point...

Crap thing about this tournament was too many groups of death coupled with too many easy groups.

The colombia group, the Argentina one and the France one and in particularly the Belgian one are all giving charitable r16 spaces to very meh teams.
While Spain Portugal England Italy have underperformed they were placed in very difficult groups as was to an extent Croatia. In more even groups I think many of them could very well have managed to go through.

You can add Ghana which played Sunday as well as any team in this competition has but look like their going out due to a very tough group.

But instead we have some very poor fixtures in this next round, and nothing even approaching a heavyweight showdown

Agree with this, if Germany win their group we could have a France v Germany QF but that's it until the SF's.

I don't think England played too badly and probably would have gone through had they been given Belgium's of Colombia's group.

Don't agree with this. If Italy and England cannot win against Costa Rica, then that exposes their own weakness, not some super strength from Costa Rica's part. Uruguay struggled through the South American qualifiers. Russia won their qualifying group ahead of Portugal, Belgium ahead of Croatia, so why would Portugal, Croatia and Uruguay be the better teams? Bosnia won their qualifying group, and Nigeria won the Africa Cup.

Suarez needs to be banned for at least a year from all competitions. This is the third time he's done it.

Completely agree. Maybe a year long ban will finally make him stop... it's just pathetic, he had no reason to do it.

Colombia should clean up Uruguay anyway. The thing about Uruguay is they often look ordinary but keep progressing. The Greek penalty looked dodgy as well. Looked like the Cote D'Ivoire player did not touch him and he tripped over his own leg. Don't think Greece will go any further anyway.

Hoping for a Greece vs. Holland quarter final... the only opponent that can make Holland switch back to 4-3-3 ;)

I hope you are referring to atmosphere...

If you want to call them Central American I'll give you Mexico, but all of Costa Rica falls within the same latitude as northern parts of Colombia and Venuzuela, so I'll stand by calling them South American.

Luis Suarez is my favourite current football player and much of it is due to the passion and emotion he shows on the football field as well as his ability.

However I'm completely shocked:eek: that he chose the World cup to bite another player for the 3rd time.. I certainly thought that he had turned over a new leaf after the Ivanovic Incident.

The Video evidence isn't looking good for him. Hopefully FIFA won't ban him for two years as being reported in many places as it might even end his career but rather give him a ban of about 6 months and ensure that he gets anger management counseling because banning him alone isn't proving to be effective.

He deserves two years from all football and a life-time ban from international football to be honest, but they can't do that.

My 2 1/2 year old knows you can't bite someone. He's very lucky he didn't get lights punched out.

The funniest thing about Suarez was the little whinge he had about the English media treating him bad and how his goals against England were revenge.

And then he goes and bites someone again. Jeez.
