Yep this is indeed such a stupid statement. FFS Frankie-boy, Contador finished and won an ultra tough Giro, while u left an easier Giro before the hard part even began. How can u even compare that?

Do you offer me to take с&cfan's words on faith?

Just stop cooking up the reasons to bash the Schlecks. It's getting paranoid.

Excuse me? Stop seeing Schleck bashing in everything. We're just a bit angry at Fränk because he dares to compare himself to The Great One.

Not much understanding here for Frank while he has a point.
After LBL he has raced for 14 or 15 stages in the Giro, did another 4 days in Luxembourg and now 9 days of racing in TdS. He will start the Tour in great shape but his concern will be the 2nd and 3rd week and there is a good chance his form will decrease rapidly at the end of the Tour.
Most people will expect him battling for yellow or at least the podium now and Frank probably knows those chances are very small. So in my opinion there is some logic in his statement now.

The thought crossed my mind briefly. Is Kim Andersen angling to be DS for the Vuelta as well???

However you slice René's comments, it's a weak thing to say. The Contador comparison was just dumb and inappropriate since René didn't come close to racing for the overall and this year's Giro parcourse was slightly less grueling than the 2011 addition. I have the strangest feeling we wouldn't hear anything about this if Raymond was around (they'd be playing their usual tune about have two or more cards to play, etc., etc.,).

Somewhat offtopic: Where the hell do u come up with these nick-names? :D

Only Contador fans were so sensitive to take it like a comparison whereas that just was a little lyrical digression without having a goal to contradict one rider another one. Even if so, what's wrong?

Sensitive? Hardly. We are just pointing out the junk that came out of his own mouth, spontaneously, was: junk. period. "lyrical digression" please! try that somewhere else. Call it what YOU like, But, some of us know garbage when we see/hear it.

Aw, he's such a victim. waaaa, waaaa waaaa. Frank AND Andy have turned into the lamest most overrated duo. Put up or shut up. Frank ought to forget about trying to compare himself( that's right, HE'S the one doing the comparing) with Contador, and try the comparison with the 2009 Armstrong. The Armstrong that went to the Giro, raced the whole thing (after a broken collarbone in April). Then went to the TdF, and came in 3rd. And he was an old man (37) returning from a few years off the bike, AND I'M NOT A LANCE FAN, AT ALL. I am a Contador fan, and Frank is not worthy of a comparison to Alberto.

Yeah....
Time to put you on ignore.

Ofc he has a point, but the comparison with Contadors situation was just odd. Anyways, why did he do TDS then?

Having a month of rest/training camps to hone/maintain form is not the same as racing in June to make sure of selection.

Having Ardennes as the initial target and then having to keep on racing for GC in May and June doesn't make a statement about the difficulty of holding form in July stupid.

But ok, it's probably a waste replying to the pitchfork crowd.

He has the mental age of 5, or he is close friends/family with Schlecks.

I know which one is more likely.

Not surprised one bit by his comments. Its defeatest but then he has been at that all season. Was his dropping out of the Giro, a race he clearly wasnt racing or even trying in surprising to anyone? And to say he cant hold his form....as if its superb....he didnt win a training race for the tour, not exactly an earth shattering performance, and not particularly hard to hold his fitness till the tour.
The man doesnt seem to want to be in the team, nor his brother and its tiring listening to the constant moaning .
Look at all the other top contenders actually racing before the tour..to gain the form needed.
Frank has barely raced and he is saying he cant hold that form....from a top cyclist its pathetic.

Contador fans are really the only ones who take offense when the Schlecks compare their seasons to him.. If it were Pierrick Fedrigo who wouldve made the same comparison, none of you crazy fanboys/girls wouldve cried.

Fedrigo had made the same comparison the reporter would have broke out laughing uncontrollably... I think it's a dumb comparison for ANYONE in Frank's situation to make.

Yes, a reeeeeeaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllly oddddddddddd comparison with a rider who wasn't in optimum form for the Tour because he had to do the Giro.

If Frank had come out and said "look I'm in really good form, maybe a little too much too soon, hopefully it'll hold until the Tour but I might drop off a little before then. We'll see" rather than "I'm screwed, no way can I lead the Tour team" then no-one would've batted an eyelid. Every year we see guys perform in June and there's always the question of whether they'll still be there for July.

Yes, that is true. However, we don't usually hear the question coming out of the mouths of the contenders themselves. Usually it is the pundits and the fans that do the speculating while they wait for the race to begin. That's what I think is at the heart of this outrage toward Frank. Here he is once again commenting on his teams chances, and his own chances, in a very negative manner (ie: setting up excuses for failure. He doesn't need anymore excuses other than the fact that he simply has not put enough work into his TTing. The ITT kms. will be his undoing anyway, just as they were in this years Tour de Suisse).
How do you think Football(USA Football) fans would react if The quarterback, Tom Brady said: It's been a long season, and I've had to play lots of crucial games leading up to this Super Bowl, so I want to let the fans, and my teammates know that I'm not sure if I'll be able to step up for this game, even though I know that it is the most important game of the year. Whether I was a Contador fan or not. Frank has been far too talkative this year, for a guy with his results.

Well tbh he did 2 weeks of the giro, and left before the really hard 3rd week. Contador did all 3 weeks of unspeakable tough Giro. So no the comparison of the Giro doesnt stick. Also he didnt train to peak for the Giro (as he thought he wasnt gonna do it), which means he took 2 weeks off the bike (more or less) after Liege.

But that aside, why did he do TDS if its such a bad thing for his preperation for the Tour? Its not like he expected not to do the Tour, or what?

Its a damn shame though. Had hoped atleast one of the Schleck would be in top form for the Tour. I fear it will be such a snoozefest with Sky controlling it all and noone to really attack. The Vuelta will be much more exciting.
