Doubt ASO would give Yates the 7 seconds for the flamme rouge and not give Mollema the same time as Froome and Porte for this if Mollema got held up while Froome and Porte were unaffected

**** happens in racing. And although this was a big ****, so to speak, and although I blame ASO, it was still an unfortunate race incident. An act of god you could say.

I want Froome to win the race, but I'm very uncomfortable with this.

The decision that's been reached is far from a perfect solution to what happened on the road today (and sure, it's favours Froome as he's the race leader, and so on) but it's about the best compromise available.

No rider wants to win the Tour because of this incident.

Of course. And all the GC contenders should be happy with this because the differences had been bigger if the crash hadnt happened. Im not a fan nor a hater of Froome, but the guy gets a lot of punishment from the cycling world; and its just jelousy. He isnt worse nor better than any of the others cyclists.

Yes of course it's the right decision, I would question why anyone would think otherwise. You cannot have the yellow jersey and 2 GC contenders whilst gaining time on rivals, caused to crash by a Moto/fans 1.2kms from the line in the TDF

Woah man it was all surreal. Mollema catching Froome and Porte, Froome running up the Ventoux like it was a marathon, Porte cursing his shitty luck yet again, the shitty neutral bike Froome can't even pedal on, Quintana almost asking for water again at the end of the stage...

Save this stage next to the weddings and anniversaires. There's no way we forget what just happened today :lol:

I don't know about "right"; but what else could they do?

It was certainly "right" for Froome & Porte but no one else and that's the point. It was unjust to the other riders especially Mollema.

The neutral bike has Mavic pedals which is really pointless as no one really uses them. Froome had Shimano cleats which also work on Look.

The bike was size L, he needed XL.

I read somewhere that the Mavic neutral service bikes are fitted with proprietary Mavic pedals, which nobody in the WT peloton uses, making the bikes literally useless.

It really wasn't the best decision they could come up with, if they wanted to be truely fair then nullify all time gaps in the GC and just award the stage win. It might seem harsh but we have seen time gaps for the GC neutralised in stages in other races due to weather conditions so this isn't that much of a side step to have done the same for this incident. This decision just makes the sport look more of a joke than it already is

They still had toe straps in recent memory, why they still wouldn't have some bikes with toe straps for neutral service is a little baffling

Well, Mollema was the biggest loser, but Froome and Porte were also losers. The Yates group gained big time and Quintana was the biggest winner as a result of the whole farce

Only part that is harsh on Mollema is they probably had a bigger gap than 30 seconds but he should be given same time as Porte and Froome. He was least affected because he was last man in the group

Dan Martin would agree with you. Eliminating all gaps probably was the second best option for the integrity of the yellow jersey competition IMO.

Shimano cleats aren't compatitable with look pedals, they are to large to clip but I guess he could of gotten the head on the cleat into a look pedal but he wouldn't of been able to put any serious power through it without it slipping out.

This could be done in winter and then everyone knows where they are infutre and not up to the guys on the day

Need to sort out every scenario and possible consequences and write rules
including waiting fro the yellow jersey to take a p***

As a computer software designerand developer of databases and business analyst ....you have to spend alot time investigating scenarios and rules

UCY /ASO need to get there finger out.....current rules do not seem fit for purpose

It's pretty simple isn't it? Just keep the results as they stand on the line in any circumstances. Bad luck already decides a lot of races and GTs - these situations don't happen enough to warrant specific rules.

If the peloton decides to slow down when someone crashes or whatever, then that's up to them - but there certainly shouldn't be any rule saying they have to. If Movistar or whoever else wants to attack in that situation, then they will just get a bad rep in the peloton and will probably be worse off in the long run.
