I'm not sure he'll even get to week 2. Fell on same side as the Dauphine. His wrist is bung. He is a very frail.

If you look at the way Saxo have ridden on the flat stages. Always kept Contador up front. The Dawg has been up and down all through the early stages.

Plus the fact of looking down at his stem all the time, that can't help navigating through a nervous peleton. Wonder did he always have that "tick" or is it since he found he was the greatest of all time.

If he's navigating the peloton, he's lost the race despite every effort to give it to him.

There's a direct correlation between GC riders who pay attention riding along just behind the front and his position on the GC. It is one of the more mundane tasks, but absolutely critical, for bicycle racing success at any level.

Well it goes a long way to explaining why his such a krappy bike handler, & a pathetic descender.

I don't know why the peloton don't just get out of his way and let him ride at the front. ;)

The Dawg has been chasing down all the attacks just for fun. When he went after Fuslang on Stage 2 I couldn't stop laughing. And then he could catch Nibali.

What a nutter!

Wait, he's sprinting for car positioning in the first stage, cover all attacks on second stage and crashes today when the car positioning really matters. Contador and Valverde are above him in GC. If he's able to ride ride tomorrow I can't even think what he'll do. Chase Cancelara?

It's too early to call that. He just has to be "in range" and he is. Looking at GC today, if a rider is in the top 50, they are still in an excellent position.

Someone deserves credit for calling tomorrow's stage one where the GC battle can be lost more than anything else.

When the mountain stages come, that's when insurmountable gaps will open and Froome will need to put on a show. All that time in a wind tunnel perfecting climbing attacks, vege juices, and sleeping on a volcano will pay off.

That car position explanation from Riis is a new one. I could see how it would be useful, but... We're accepting Riis at his word and that's problematic.

He's gonna be hurting like a crazy person after tomorrow's stage, if his wrist is banged up. Those cobbles aren't exactly comfortable to ride on. Provided he manages to stay upright - and that's certainly not a given.

I was pointing to the fact that Saxo and Movi cars will be in front of Sky tomorrow during the stage when probably the cars need to be the closest to the riders as they can get.

Absolutely true. I read it wrong.

Welp, I guess we'll REALLY get to see the TUE process in warp speed overnight. But the UCI will say all protocols were followed normally!;)

I believe alien blood transfusion should do it. Phone home.

The rider who has taken the biggest leap beside Froome is Nordhaug. Since coming to Sky his career has really taken off. And this year he has produced several good results but nothing close to a 2nd place in the Vuelta.
What happened to Nordhaug? Everybody was saying that he was way better than Uran and Henao!

I'd love to see Froome chase a Cancellara attack on the cobbles. Would be hilarious.

No problem. That was obviously a very serious crash today, that would kill an ordinary rider, but Dawg just needs a TUE for a unit of blood to replace all he lost today, & maybe a morphine drip for the pain in his wrist .... now where's Zorzoli's number ?

And I think I've found the next marginal gain for Sky ... or at least Dawg

what happened in that crash then ? looked like the rider in front looked behind, was unclipped and stuck his leg out,...rider next to him swerved and Froome then went down.

If thats what happened - and i replayed it a few times...looked like it was done to bring him down.

I haven't seen it, but wow. You'd better have some strong evidence for that theory! :D I look forward to seeing the replay tonight. I guess anything's possible, but wow!

He was looking at his stem and got taken down.

Where would you get the idea someone set up a chain of events to make Froome fall off his bike?

watch the replays a few times...the rider in front who swerved was actually unclipped with his right leg...he stuck it out towards the rider on his right....he swerved and Froome touched his back wheel.
