OK, so did anyone see why Froome crashed this morning? And why he was riding towards the back of the peleton? Why would he be anywhere near the back, unless he'd been to visit a car or on a break?

Hard to keep up with the peloton on a day like this. Just hope he doesnt get DQ'd by hanging onto a motorbike.

He slipped on rain and was probably looking at his stem.

His team set up behind the car so he could draft and not get a penalty. It's going to be really hard for Sky to get him back up to the front because of the rain and once they hit the cobbles it'll be nuts.

He's out! Currently in the back seat of a Jaguar. I don't think his TUE will cover doing the cobbles in a car, but who knows with the UCI.

Well that just saved the Forums Web Server...

Kelly questioned his bike handling and positioning.

LOL! Has he been watching professional basket-weaving for the past 3 years?

Oh, the pain! Oh, the wasted money on dealers! Oh, Dale - the stoopidity of not including Wiggo!

Bet Sky now rues the day they didn't take Wiggins to this Tour. :D

Telegraphed when Wiggo finished in the top 10. Crazy.

Not pleased to see someone have to withdraw, regardless of how I feel about their cleanness.

Agreed but Astana rode it smart. They smashed it from the start and tested Froome's mental resolve.

Would be sad if Contador and Valverde get a free pass to 1 and 2. Hope they crash out too.
Both caught doping several times and still lying(so still doping).

Sure, Nibali was caught training with Ferrari, but then Froome openly had Leinders as their team doctor.

More to cycling than power meter data, and the aggregation of marginal gains.

Sky riders are so thin they have lost the ability to stay on the bike and the slightest fall knocks all the stuffing out of them.

Sorry no sympathy. Perhaps Sir Dave might have considered the huge gains which can be made by staying on the bike.

Agree with all of this. They lost sight of the "racing" element. Which Nibali is a master of.

Nibili is a joy. Tactically intelligent and aggressive.

Sky are joyless.

Looking forward to Contador v Nibali v Valverde. A real TdF, for the first time in 3 years.

(Unless Porte spoils things.)

Froome is just a manufactured pedaling machine. The ugliest rider in the peloton, no style, and obviously no skill. He fell twice. He can't do it. Sky would be 1-9 in the standings if this were a stationary bike race. But add in tactics, and they fail miserably. Funny thing is, Wiggins is probably the Sky man with the best tactical race sense, yet another reason it was stupid to leave him off the roster.

think it was boardman who has said, he was not overly concerned about a 7.5 versus 8 kg bike, because inevitably you needed to descend that bike, and you needed some stability to descend.

this goes for the cobbles, and some smart brah ^^^ said about these new AICAR GW1516 or whatever peptide acronymnumber, the bodies are too light to go over cobbles.

EPO won't help you on a 155km cobbled stage in the wet.

Big balls will though.
