Sucks it was a crash that took him out.

Ferrari was right. Too skinny.

And the curse of Walsh hits another Sky rider. Porte rode well. Should be the leader, period.

I would have preferred it if he tested positive. But at least we will have a clean battle between Nibali and Contador now.

Yeah, right..

Seriously, do you believe that they are clean?

Can anyone post Chris Froome's power meter data for this stage. We need to work out AP, NP, IT, CTL, TSB and know his CdA, so we can work out why he fell off his bike twice.

Perhaps the new Stages power meter which only measures left leg power has altered his centre of balance? Or was he on too many pain killers? Did he use his inhalers for his asthma?

Should Sir Dave Brailsford re employ Dr Geert Leimders?

So does this mean Froome will ride the Vuelta and Wiggo will get bumped off again?

Would they do that again to him? That would be pretty messed up. Froome gets his way for the Tour...you crash out, sorry, now you are just part of the team and you don't get to set the roster for whenever you decide to race again. At least, that's what should happen.

Clinic ain't going to be what it was last year unless contador steps up.

I'm going to miss the Dawg. Was really looking forward to him going full ***.

I fully expect Contador to crank out ridiculous numbers on the MTFs now that he has no more margin for error. Then again, maybe the Kreuziger 'positive' made them more cautious with their preparations. We will see soon enough.

Pro-cycling isn't for the faint-hearted, strong of him to try to start with a broken wrist. I saw the Tour go through Epping Forest, Froome was off the back getting paced back on. He just looked little and very human. Strange to look at him that way after reading so much of what is said about him, gave me a fresh perspective.

Still not a fan, and largely unmoved when he climbed off today, but he doesn't deserve the more extreme reactions that is coming from some. He's human, he was broken by three crashes in two days. That wasn't a bike race today, it was a charnel pit. All the starters today deserve respect, all them braver, more committed people than you or I.

CF: I'm out the race.

MC: Not fully.

"Everybody's high on consolation
Everybody's trying to tell me
What is right for me & MC, yeah
I need a drink and a quick decision
Now it's up to me, ooooh No more Tour for me

he's gone, he's gone
Oh, why
Oh, why
I better learn how to face it
he's gone, he's gone
Oh, why
Oh, why
I'd pay the devil to replace him
he's gone, he's gone
Oh, why
What went wrong

Get up in the morning, look in the mirror
One less TUE hanging in the stand
My face ain't looking any younger
Now what I can see
MC's taken a toll on me

he's gone, he's gone
Oh, why
Oh, why
I better learn how to face it
he's gone, he's gone
Oh, why
Oh, why
I'd pay the devil to replace him
he's gone, he's gone

I think Porte taking it to Contador would get the clinic fired up. A Porte win would for me be the incontrovertible proof of systemic doping at Sky.

Agreed, it is what should happen. But Sky have made it clear that the Dawg is their guy and Wiggins can take a flying leap.

Froome will now have to reassess his season, and Brailsford confirmed that the team may send him to the Vuelta a España, where he will face the Movistar pairing of Nairo Quintana and Alejandro Valverde, plus Joaquim Rodríguez. They did the same with Bradley Wiggins in 2010, when he broke his collarbone early on and he went onto finish third at the Vuelta. Incidentally, Froome finished second at that year's Vuelta.

The fact that that's even mentioned tells me they're snubbing Wiggins yet again.
