Evans got the message during last year's tour when the SKY doms rode him into submission.

Froome developed that last 1k acceleration/kick/sprint out of nowhere. He could just do it when he joined sky. He is not only competitive in ITTs and uphill (the steeper the better; all about the zigzag), he also has a great acceleration/sprint at the end of tough mountain stages. Like many riders before him, he has the ability to turn on an afterburner, while not being affected by "the red." Once the afterburner is shut off, he can fall back to his uphill 450W cruising pace. Other guys who could accelerate away and continue at a ridiculously high pace at one point or another included Pantani, Armstrong, Rasmussen, Contador, Ricco.

it's trainable.

Especially for nobody riders (Ricco, LA, Rasmussen, Froome) who never showed any such talent to compete in 3 week races. They trained so hard they learned how to ITT, climb, accelerate, sprint, and motorcruise uphill.

lol

It's trainable.

riders also could perform supra-threshold before doping. Lemond was pretty good at it and even managed to outsprint Kelly at Worlds. It's not a sign of doping in itself and it's trainable. One reason why Lemond did sprint workouts every Tuesday year round.

Lemond had pedigree. Are you comparing Froome to Lemond?

I'm saying it's trainable. There's nothing indicative of doping just because a rider develops supra-threshold capacity.

Today's Tirreno stage shows one thing that's very clear:

You might become a fantastic climber and TTer if you dope to the gills. But all the drugs in the world won't save you if you can't DESCEND!

And at the same time becomes a top 3 climber, a top 3 TT'er. They forgot to tell him how to steer in a wet descend?

Get of it masterracer. It is getting ridicoulous.

I'm responding to Dear Wiggo who reckons that it is physiologically impossible to hold threshold power for 36min and then increase power output for about 2min.

I explained nicely that this is incorrect. He trolled back and derailed the discussion.

Nobody really needs my explanation anyway. It's plainly obvious that endurance athletes "kick" at the end of a race.
I asked you a question, Dear Wiggo has nothing to do with that question. And indeed, he was not very polite, to say the least.

Trouble.....

After getting changed on the Team Sky bus, he opted not to warm down on the rollers but shared his thoughts on a terrible day of racing in the Le Marche hills.

Froome tactics are poor. Contador showed him up at the Vuelta. I don’t know what’s wrong with him. As soon as he goes outside of “powertap” riding he loses he plot.

Froome is a headcase. I think the way to beat him and his doped up team is to attack in rain and on rolling hills.

Dope doesn’t give you tactical prowess. Just power.

Not to worry, Murdoch can easily afford to pay the UCI
to cancel races on rainy days and omit all technical
descents. If races have to be cancelled due to rain,
re-runs of the 2012 season can be televised instead.
Who would ever tire of seeing Wiggo and SKY winning
all those races? Not me!!

without warmdown, he'll be crap tomorrow.

Emergency in sky camp. Froome cant perform well tomorrow now. Need to quickly give him a shed load of performance dehancing drugs to counteract all the peds.

is this guy for real?^^^

Sky told us the others weren't winning cos they weren't warming down. QED when Froome doesn't warm down, he can't win tomorrow. Keep up.

Sorry my bad. here is your question...

"Maybe I am reading this completely wrong but are you saying nothing has changed in this clean peloton in comparison to the naughties? "

here is my answer....

No. That's not what I am saying.

Those idiots at Sky US (aka US postal) should have gotten Lance to ride races like Tirreno in the early season and make sure to not win at least 1 stage.

Then when bone idle ****ers who dont believe in miracles accused him of doping, he and his army of fans could point to that Tirreno stage as proof he wasnt doping.

Do you have an explanation for why he was so crap then?

Btw Byops explanation of this is in my signature.

maybe the Chris Froome fan club was split on each side of the road, and he wanted to thank them all one by one

Feel free to use it (its more plausible than most of the explanation for Froomes improvement)

They did that, in 2005 Armstrong abandoned Paris-Nice during the 1st or 2nd stage. What they failed in was keeping former riders from getting busted then telling all.
