I've wondered about this as well. If a rider is doped when they give their baseline values and stays doped throughout the year, there'll be no deviation, will there?

According to what I've read from Ashenden, the values over time would signal abnormalities. But, that's assuming the UCI/BC (hello Cookson, again) would process the positive. They didn't do that with Armstrong's 2009/10 red-hot samples.

Last year, when Wiggins was leading out the sprint train in the GC leader's jersey it was no big deal. What's changed?

Team Sky Director David Brailsford told VeloNews, "At some point in time, clean performances will surpass the doped performances in the past."
What is the logic behind this statement?

Setting things up for when Froome beats Pantani's time on the Alpe. "See, I told you a clean rider could be faster then a doped one."

LA doesn't give a f about that, his only concern is not to remain bankrupt after all trials that are coming :D

That is exactly what you are saying.

Then you are wrong. Froome makes me a skeptic, but I realize he previously has shown superlative performance only to see that performance wane on successive days unlike other riders who somehow keep that performance. Dopers hold fitness longer, suffer less fatigue, and don't see as big a drop in performance at altitude. If Froome is doped we will see near record times at Ventoux and Le Alpe regardless if he has to defend or not and he will defend the final two mountain stages with ease.

Froome has been in top form all throughout this season.

wiggins was leading out Cav because he had pulled cav to sky. Sky was supposed to help cav get green jersey, and then they forced cav to go and do his own stage victory all throughout the race. cav, the rainbow jersey, was carrying bottles for wiggins.
it was wiggo's way of saying thank you to cav.

Funny that if Brailsford saw the GT talent in the Dawg why Sky went down the Cav route.

It's clear no one including Johan Brailsford thought the Dawg would one day win a GT by 17 hours.

But Froome will not be required to go any faster than others who assail him. They have all shown themselves on AX3 to be found wanting and their performances were at or below baseline performances from 2008 to present. Froome on the other hand was 4.5% above that level and 1.9% above 2002-2007 levels. He is the anomaly in the Tour. Take him out and the race is wide open. He will not need to set record times if the others are merely at or below baseline GT levels. It does not matter ... uphill, downhill or flat, the other GC riders are losing huge chunks of time. Like I said Saturday, this thing is over ... and after just 38km of hard riding. Valverde has it right, know when you are beaten.

Let's see, you are comparing times from a cat 1 climb which tops out below 1400m between different tours as proof of doping without taking into the context of fatigue accumilated that day or of prior days. More data points are needed other the climb to Bonascre and the time trial which only confirmed the time differences on Bonascre. There is a fine line between skepticism and fanaticism unlike the grey area which seperates definitely not doped and definitely doped.

Armstrong set his record after a rest day, and we all know what happens then dont we?
Also, if everyone was fresh in this tour, why is Froome the only one climbing at Armstrong levels while the rest of the peloton is at "clean" level?

Hunter Allen's opinion on Froome

"This article is crap.
http://www.outsideonline.com/fitness/biking/Analysing-Froomes-Performance.html?page=1

These guys are clueless. The author and referenced authors and their articles don't know what they are talking about.. They don't really have a clue of what the best can do. Clearly they are un-experienced and don't have access, haven't seen a ton of data from years of clean and un-clean riders. Froome is clean. Get over it people. 6.5w/kg for an hour is the new top rung on the Power Profile."

Show the numbers then. His fitness has increased all season, his Dauphine performance is nowhere near showing doped power outputs. We can't be skeptical of increasing fitness during a season can we. We can be skeptical of increasing fitness near the end of 3 week grand tour though. Sky looks like they geared up for this race by pushing out hard 20-35 minute efforts while others teams look like they geared up for this race by doing 45-60 minute hard efforts at high altitude. What remains to be seen is who is doped.
