Eurosport using the fact that Froome attacked on Alpe D'Huez in 2008 (only to fade and finish nowhere) as proof of his ability.

I just watched that & almost spat out my coffee.
paraphrasing:

"Froome did go deep and blow himself up, but the fact hat he went with him for a couple hundred metres at the start told me he might have a future"

he finished 11+ minutes down

this is almost propaganda. A direction from somewhere to push back on the "came out of nowhere" doubts about Froome's rise.

This was the least dominant win I've seen of Froome all season. In the 2006 Tour Rabobank thought after the Pyrenees that they were too strong, and they decided against a second blood bag.

Could Froome have done the same, thinking he had already won? If Contador had switched to a TT bike, he would have won today. The very thought would have been ludicrous a mere week ago. With the shape he had earlier this Tour, he should have taken at least 45 seconds on each climb. Now he had to win it in the descend.

froome just been saying on ITV that he wasn't even trying... said he was saving himself for the Alpe... obvious but he's getting more and more arrogant by the day

Not a shock really. We have seen it all before, and will probably see it again. :(

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!!! Awesome.

I know. sometimes you can't help but laugh at the lunacy of it all.

Maybe he dopes, maybe he doesn't.

But rest assured, the clinic will amuse, come what may.

"...to the people who don’t believe in cycling, the cynics and the sceptics: I'm sorry for you. I’m sorry that you can’t dream big. I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles. But this is one hell of a race. This is a great sporting event and you should stand around and believe it. You should believe in these athletes, and you should believe in these people. I'll be a fan of the Tour de France for as long as I live. And there are no secrets — this is a hard sporting event and hard work wins it. So Vive le Tour forever"

But the facts, are with Froome, and werent with Lance.
A lot of evidence then, no evidence now.

For years since at least before his first Tour win I was given the same line from LA supporters. "Produce the evidence". Well the evidence then, as now, was clear to see. Let's hope the truth will out quicker this time.
Also a question - Are Contador's times any slower than when he was "doping". I haven't had time to check but just seeing the "incredible" "incroyable" écart that Froome haas built up Pistolero probably isn't going much slower even though he is only now riding himself into form. Peaking rather than staying there all season.

I thought he'd go alien on this one with a huge gap to second. Maybe conditions didn't permit a blow-out. Or, maybe he's managing his efforts better. Hard to say.

There's plenty of grand tour history to support third week collapses and riders getting progressively better into the third week. This is the nature of grand tours, even when riders are aided by more than massage.

here's a spoiler for the rest of the Tour, if he doesn't pi*s hot before tomorrow morning this is how it will go:

Alpe d'Huez: Quintana attacks on Alpe 1, gets caught halfway up Alpe 2 by Porte and 5 other guys, Froome attacks and takes another minute out of everyone

LGB: Contador attacks on the Madeleine and destroys the race but Porte and Froome catch him on the final climb and do this:

Semnoz: why even bother

Tell me, what do you think hearing Froomie's 'aw shucks, i wasn't even trying' schtick does to Contador, who rode like a man possessed, at least on the first half (quite possibly far too hard, in retrospect) and who was clearly somewhere from furious to heartbroken on TV when Froome finished?

And do you think Froomie might want that reaction? After his little 'telling off' of berti last night? And if so, why?

Have a think. Particularly, think pack dynamics, and "Call of the wild".

Very little is 'offhand' - there's reason to all the madness.

Can´t see any arrogance here.
Much different to LA "witch hunt, europeans don´t train hard, kangaroo court, etc., etc.". I mean LA pi$$ed everybody straight into the face. The fans, the media, the opponent, the innocent, even his "friends", countries like france, and whole continents....

Can´t believe so much hate towards Froome. My opinion is the clinic is overacting...

Exactly, it's almost as though they copied the US Postal model and only changed what they thought was what caused their demise: Armstrong's arrogance.

Everything else is pretty much the same... this time around with an English accent.

I'm sick of the haters as well. Froome and Sky are clean.

The pass the tests, give themselves to testers morning, noon and night.

They train hard and respect the race.

Even Contador said Froome was clean.

I can't understand why everyone wants to take them down.

There's nothing in Sky's performances that suggests to me that's is doping. None.

If anything. Sky are too clean.
