I think Porte taking it to Contador would get the clinic fired up. A Porte win would for me be the incontrovertible proof of systemic doping at Sky.

"I just got back from red lobster"

Porte is a sleeper man. He has been training the same sitting attack moves as da Dawg. His progression is only natural that he will win this years tour.

My future is so bright I need to wear Oakley shades?

Does Walsh have time to write an express autobiography for Richie before he wins the tour?

Im sure he will jump on the Porte bandwagon any moment now.

Its writing itself. Walsh has a random story generator on his laptop. He just enters the Sky riders name and the finished book comes out the other end sans facts.

Porte dropping everyone shouldn't be surprising. After all, he, too, climbed the Madone faster than Armstrong ever did. :p

With any luck it'll be a pop-up or colouring book.

But, they have made such poor strategic decisions in the past they stand a good chance of losing a podium spot despite having the capabilities.

Let's see if they keep the comedy alive.

Geraint Thomas sounded devastated on hearing that "Froome" had hit the deck.

Yes all of Sky sound so upset. Did you hear Brailsford? He was more excited about Nibali than what happened to Froome.

I think Dave is secretly happy that he doesnt have to share management duties with Michele any longer.

An "injured" wrist according to Froome.

Not that Farell is trustworthy nor Froome but for the record....

He told TeamSky.com: “I’m devastated to have to pull out of the race. It was the right thing to do after crashing again and I knew that I couldn’t carry on.
“I’m going to fly home tonight and over the next few days I’ll go for some more scans on my wrist to find out exactly what injuries I’ve sustained.

“The X-ray last night didn't show an obvious fracture and I wanted to race today, but clearly I was in pain and we put heavy strapping on the left wrist from the start. It’s too early to say for definite when I’ll be back on the bike, I’m just going to concentrate on getting back to full fitness.

He said: “Chris first suffered a fall yesterday and landed on his left wrist. Initial X-rays were reassuring, but with the nature of the bones involved at the wrist, it was prudent to keep an open mind on any potential fracture that might not have been evident straight away.

“Chris underwent appropriate medical treatment last night, and again this morning, and he was able to start today’s stage.

“Unfortunately, due to the nature and location of Chris's injury, it made controlling the bike difficult, and with the treacherous conditions, the decision was taken between Chris and I to withdraw from the race.

“Chris is bitterly disappointed but recognises that it was the right thing to do. He will now return home and undergo more extensive investigations. We will treat him as appropriate for his injuries and hope to see him back on the bike in the very near future.”

Imagine Froome, back home in Monaco opening the giant fridge where, behind some blood bags, he had stashed a few cans of baked beans with sausage. Now he can finally eat something proper. Until Michele comes home.

Maybe have a cup of coffee too?

come on you lot- back off....he doesnt deserve this much flack.

If he truly is a giant fraud, he deserves an unlimited amount of flack.

I have to say, I would have rather seen him at least reach the cobbles so we could witness him losing 8 minutes and when Contador or Nibali wins, it's not "because Froome crashed".

in the end it was better he retired before the cobbles. at least the clinic did not get the chance to see him loose many minutes.
eh?

What struck me with his downfall was how mentally broken he looked. Like he'd be found out. He was shaking his head saying 'no' to the mechanic. He just didn't want to ride. He wanted to escape.

But more stinking was his team. I'm not sure they actually cared the he was gone. Brailsford was more in awe of Nibali than worrying about Froome and his broken blouse.
