FFS how many times do we have to go through this. Marginal gains >> micro dosing. The bad old days are gone, marginal gains and human evolution trump the gains from AICAR, EPO, testo, HGH, clen, corti's, insulin, thyroxin and asthma meds. Head down looking at the stem is worth about 5% alone! add some more for pillows, washing hands and motorhomes and you can see why the doped times will be beaten.

I'm reading Alberto's between GT recovery article on CN and wondering how the flippin' heck he expects to be Turbo Froome.

I am really struggling to see how he can do it. What's other people's thoughts?

If "Froomey" is as strong as he was two years ago it'll take wind, rain and a tactical master class from Contador to win. "Froomey" is tactically inept and relies on his massive power and "improbable cadence" to get him out of trouble.... Time for a July rain dance...

Not really ,Froome got dropped twice at that tour. He struggled against a very good TJ last week ,who beat him easy on one of the climbs.
If Quintana and Bertie are in decent form Froome will get dropped on at least 2 stages. Nibs is a different matter a unknown factor going up, but he did look impressive climbing in last years tour.
Froomes was good in 2013 but its relative to the competition ,,,,IMO.

I hope you are right but I fear the Dawg has not reached alien mode yet.

Indeed. Porte was looking good at the Giro until he hit the deck, imagine what it will do to Froome

thank you, it's been a while since we heard those jokes.

Contador will never ever be as doped, and as strong, as in 2009 again. Was just a very special doped up year with Lance coming back.

Even Wiggins climbed better that year than in 2012 afaik.

May or may not have something to do with the fact that AICAR wasn't even banned until 2010.

With such a dogmatic view, it's no surprise you are unable to objectively assess the strength of the different currently active contenders.

PMSL

That is gold, superb. :D

The irony (or, perhaps sad) part is that modern-day cyclists do actually look like that.

Atheletes at the pinnacle of their professions; able to produce monumental power for tens of kms on the flat; capable of superhuman feats of strength and endurance on MTFs, day after day, yet they look like starving Ethopians from a 1980's Bob Geldof benefit concert.

Where do they get the energy from? I don't think that a single investigation, admission, or independent study has ever determined that these guys are anything but clean.

It's all about marginal gains, vege juice, Nutella-free diets, higher cadence, stem-focussed training regimes, Km's put in at the International Space Station..."Cleans, I tell ya, cleans!!!!"

So the little douchebag has a frowny face because he doesn't get his own motor home sanctuary, away from the unwashed masses of his teammates? I feel pretty sure that Sky will find a way to make sure he doesn't have to sleep on the floor, poor little fella...
So, I guess he won't be needing this, then:

So according to a British 'newspaper' Froome has missed 2 tests. I guess 2 missed tests is the new clean.

EDIT: @mattslaterbbc On conf call, he said one but at sitdown in Monaco with reporters he admitted to 2. Only those there like @alxterrell had it.

And what was the name of that rare tropical disease that causes partial hearing loss? Or perhaps he's got the same branded crap doorbell as Mo does?

Good lord. How can any cycling journo write this post Armstrong

"Va Va Froome won his Yellow Jersey against a soundtrack of uncorroborated smears that his rocket fuel included banned substances - even though he was tested 30 times in three weeks and each one was negative."

The missed test was this year if I read correctly?

Does it say when they were? I can read that one was this year, not sure when the other one was.

The 2015 one was apparently because the hotel staff wouldnt let them in. If so, in my view, that would be grounds for appeal since the testers could easily corroborate the story, not tge same as "I didnt hear the bell".

Sorry, I only know what I saw in that twitter exchange and the picture of the 'newspaper'.

How the hell would the hotel staff know they were not customers?

And was this the hotel in Tenerife? Coz that brings in a whole new bunch of issues with why they train there...

Froome is glowing during a short break in Italy on a date he won't specify ? That's interesting. I wonder who he is seeing there

Also interesting to see some UK journos seem to know all the details on missed tests (assuming this wasn't just a random admission)

It wasn't that long ago that even some posters in the clinic didn't seem to understand how to interpret a negative. It's hopeless. Negatives will always prove national heroes to be clean, even with Armstrong holding the World record for most clean tests ever doping throughout his career, Balco athletes never getting caught etc.

In the past era EPo was indetectable, and there wasnt biopassport, now test are really eficcient, but you will see in the future becouse now I dont have any hope on you believe that.

After to see that most of rieders of Festina were doped by EPO, some performances of some riders later at the end of a GT were not possible without doping, expecially becouse then riders didnt take care in all the things that riders take now.

But now is impossible a doping like Festina, maybe some riders still dope in an small quantity, but anyway a good rider can win everything clean.
