Good article, Dawg couldn't find anyone to go with him! LOL!
Boswell and Froome were scheduled to go there

Konig was supposed to join them, but he crashed in Valencia
https://www.instagram.com/p/BBxaFFpraAd/
so he didnt go
I think maybe Roche too (who´s part of the Monaco crew with Boswell Konig Froome) but he was called last minute to Andalucia after Intxausti and Landa pulled out.

Get LRP back on drums! He'll be there! Go Richie!

Doesn't seem a particularly Sky Team Spirit thing

Makes a lot of sense really given the number of Sky riders who can do a good GC in one week races like Tirreno or Paris-Nice. And of course Froome himself has been ill in this period in both of the last two years after training in bad weather. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone in one week stage races anymore but he'll still be competitive in Catalunya, Romandie and Dauphine.

Maybe there's too much testing at Tenerife now

nah, Astana/Aru will go there, and Cannondale spent a few weeks on Teide too this month
Smart move by Sky, call for more testing in Tenerife and then go train somewhere else.

dont worry Flo, they'll be back there after Catalunya and Tirreno
actually, me too I'd prefer to train in warm South Africa now than in snowy Teide ;) https://twitter.com/ORICA_GreenEDGE/status/702424299634827268

Ullirch used to train in SA. Good spot, warm weather etc. I'm sure master trainer Tim Kerrison is there working on the number with him

Ullrich was there for (hemo)pure air...

Lack of testing and the availability of practically anything you could need from a pharmacist obviously have nothing rot do with their choice of training location.

And if you did accidentally ingest anything banned, I'm sure that a friendly pharmacist will come forward and explain that their counter top was contaminated which should clear everything up nicely.

Cookson Jnr is now with a South African team, is he not?

Swart might be doing some coaching as well, although not confirmed.

Orica-GreenEdge was on a training camp in South Africa the last 3 weeks. they might even have bumped into Froome/Boswell during their rides (check Boswell and Orica guy's Stravas)
it seems everybody is fine with Orica training there, nobody suggested them to go to Tenerife or elsewhere or said "why they are in a so far away place?"...

I'm not sure this is the thread for Orica Greenedge observations but thanks anyhow.

“We’re in the Mpumalanga region in the northeast of the country, up in the hills near a small town called Pilgrim’s Rest. We’re staying in some self-catering lodges at a place called Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge.

http://velonews.competitor.com/2016/02/news/froome-impressed-with-boswell-at-two-man-camp-in-south-africa_396512#Oc3RDm6MobxmHxIX.99

Our apartments are double storey, two-bedroom townhouse style facebrick units. All units have 2 private bedrooms, one on ground level with a double bed and the second bedroom upstairs with two single beds.

http://www.crystalsprings.co.za/index.php/accommodation

Seriously, who gets the double bed and who gets the two singles?

Stay out of the water Chris!!

“We were jumping into waterfalls, swimming in the river and laying on the grass...."

Seriously, why the fook risk this in one of SAs riskier bilharzia provinces/district:

http://www.nmc.gov.za/Docs/Bilharzia.pdf

It may be that they are high enough up to negate any risk but still, as we say in Scotland, 'it widnae be me'!

As it was vigorously established in the shane sutton thread, froome et al. are professional athletes and should behave as such. And they do.

On that note...

Wasn't the Super Dawg peer reviewed report ready for release in March? With original data from Lausanne? ;)

I did hear March from Froome's twitter but anything is possible. I heard all the Lausanne data will be there in its sparkling authenticity.

Then we can conclude;

“The engine was there all along,” - “He just lost the fat.”

Charlie Rose, a spokesman for the GlaxoSmithKline Human Performance Lab, said that none of the scientists involved in the test were available for interviews. He added that the lab planned to submit the results in a peer-reviewed journal, but that both the journal and the timing of any paper had yet to be determined.

Phillip Bell, one of the scientists who measured Froome, told Esquire that “Froome’s values are close to what we believe are the upper limits for VO2 peak in humans.”

Jeroen Swart, a South African sports physician interviewed by Esquire, said that the relative consistency between the recent test and the one from 2007, when Froome was not a leading cyclist and weighed about 17 pounds more, suggests that Froome’s rise to the top was natural.

“The engine was there all along,” Swart told the magazine. “He just lost the fat.”
