That's it... I'm done with cycling. In fact I'm going to sell my bicycle and never cycle in my life ever again... because of Chris Froome

So why are there rarely any athletes exceeding the limit while about 50% is "asthmatic"?

Pointless having the matter fully heard in a tribunal if people can't accept the result. Rule of law anyone? It is a pity if some people come out of litigation of any kind less successful than others but all cases are different. Perhaps where they were the same they can be revisited and reconsidered, but someone agrieved would have to take the initiative.
I see English words and sentences but none of it makes any sense to me. Sorry. Probably my fault.
Sorry about that. You probably get the gist of it. off to a cycling friend's funeral now (illness not accident) so will look in later to see how you all pull through.

This post is definition of histeria and exaggeration. If you understood correctly from the begging that this case was not as serious as many made it look like it would be better for your mental health.

Do it. I might even come over from the Netherlands and join. This is about so much more than just cycling, but about psychopath bullies getting away with anything they want. Whether it is letting the economical market implode or ride yourself to glory in one of the biggest sporting events in the world. The narcissism, the total lack of empathy and utter disrespect for human dignity - I can no longer watch all that's ugly persevere. Enough is enough.

I want froome's study published in a peer reviewed journal.

If it's not total bs, it could actually be important.

Yes, good point.

However these reports are one-time use and one-purpose use only. It may now be disposed of.

Prudy again all but ruling out whacking Froome with the disrepute stick (and all but admitting why):
Legally, he can [start]
Interestingly, while still passing the blame back to the UCI he's now making it clear that it is not the fault of ASO's man in Aigle, Lappy:
"It's terrible that the sporting authorities have not managed to solve this problem before the start of the world's biggest race. I won't say anything more but of course, rules have to be modified.

"An abnormal control doesn't mean anything to a large public. It has to be black or white, positive or negative."

Prudhomme, once a journalist, would not blame the situation on the UCI's president, David Lappartient, who took over the position from Brian Cookson last autumn.

"He has already changed a lot of things but he couldn't change everything", Prudhomme said.
Time, I think, for Cooky to defend his tarnished reputation...

(A part of me does wish ASO did play the disrepute card. Just to see the looks on faces when CAS laughed it out of court.)

Your wish came true it seems.. :p
Only if we get to Wednesday and a decision, clarity of what we've been discussing for the last four months.

Of course it was serious. He went twice over the limit. Considering previous bans, or hell even the ban for Yates for forgetting to register the TUE should be precedent. Otherwise why were those guys banned if the drugs do nothing at all. Or does Froome get a higher limit than everyone else for some reason

The sport is truly beyond repair.

Thanks for years of educational discussions, fellow clinicians. I guess this is a bridge too far for me, at least for the time being.

It is. The governing anti doping body WADA sides with the athlete against their own rules. There's not much more to be said really.

"In light of WADA’s unparalleled access to information and authorship of the salbutamol regime, the UCI has decided, based on WADA’s position, to close the proceedings against Mr Froome."
Dangerous precendent.
Dope all you want and when you get caught, claim the test or rules must be faulty because you have a clear conscience. Then pay an expert to write an article supporting your statement and/or send a bag of money to UCI HQ and you're good to go.

Ask the doctors and specialists. There were similar cases before (Petacchi, Ulissi). We might not even heard about many others because it was properly kept as confidential and private.

On 28 June 2018, WADA informed the UCI that it would accept, based on the specific facts of the case, that Mr Froome’s sample results do not constitute an AAF. In light of WADA’s unparalleled access to information and authorship of the salbutamol regime, the UCI has decided, based on WADA’s position, to close the proceedings against Mr Froome.
Erhh ...? So everyone else done for the same thing can claim damages?

Oh we did.

But you mistake the tree for a forest. Quoting Metallica froome Mk 2 is a thing that should not be.

That cycling institutions cling to a lie more obvious than Lance is both too much and exactly what the sport deserves.

Looks like WADA pulled the plug on its support for this case and that was that since it is a WADA threshold.

It never happened!!! Froome's sample never happened according to WADA - it was all fake news in the press.

So the "clinic forum" poll was dead on - well done fellow clinic cynics!

Mod hat on:

This a pre-emptive warning. We are well aware of the likely emotional responses this announcement will cause. This does not mean we'll let the rules slide, so please be aware of what you post. The tour is days away, we'd much prefer not to have to ban people.

Cheers,

KB.

Sounds like the post-justification it shouldn't have been leaked in first place to me. Remember at the very beginning what Armstrong said and a few others too? The leak just never sounded right, just like the Jiffy bag story didn't either. There is a huge element of this case nobody has a clue about yet.

So the most exciting tour in a long while is now going the same way as the pasts ones, a doped up train steaming up the mountains, thanks UCI.

There are a few guys who have the legs to save this tour and make a statement against Froome, even less I have faith in to try. I won't have any respect for any riders who wait for Froome if he has an issue again though like last tour. Allez Bardet. Or at this point, really anybody else. :(

At least we can cheer for a respectful hero in green.

So apparently Berto just took the wrong LABA. Should've taken Salbutamol instead of Clenbuterol and he would be fine ...
Things worked differently (and better, antidoping-wise) back then. I believe Contador would have been cleared if it happened now. Froome may be special as the most important rider in the peloton, but even he doesn't stand in isolation - there's been a long string of BS cases in a steadily deteriorating scene. Impey and Kreuziger come to mind.

Not being picky about the case, but salbutamol is not a LABA. It's a short acting. And any quantity of a LABA is a doping infringement. Just need to clarify

You're right; I've even got a Team Sky bandana for my dog this year, can't wait. I'm going to have to think about redecorating my lounge in a nice shade of yellow. That pink colour i did it with at the end of May is looking a bit dated
