From what Shane was saying JQ is not going to ride as per J Glasspool. Ed is already a world class starter, They will blend JQ into the team to do long stints and maybe not to do the full 4km but it will be a more "traditional" role so as not to blow it apart. He has more work to do on the technical side and even if he does not ride in Copenhagen he will probably continue working with the TP squad to try for London 2012. G's qualifying IP at Manchester W. Cup was only his 2nd ever 4km pursuit and I'm sure both Bradley and him will be available for the Teams in London (who could pass up the chance to ride at a home Olympics). A. Fenn was a raw talent at the recent W cup, but is a real powerhouse and will be hugely improved by 2012. However for Copenhagen I think the Aussies will win narrowly.
Good to see Ben going, I thought the road team had other plans for him.

Queally will be 42 and 3 months in London. That would be unprecedented to ride an event on the track at that age.
The legend that is Juan Esteban Curuchet (born 4 Feb 1965) won the
Olympic Gold with Walter Perez in the Madison at Beijing (19 Aug 2008).
That would make Curuchet 43 years 6 1/2 months old when he won Gold.
It was his sixth Olympics.

Joan Llaneras was about 40 in the madison. That race was possible for an older team to compete. See Bruno Risi.

they rated Clancy as the number one guy in the pick up. On that different role, why would a kilo rider blow it up, that would still screw the 3 riders who need to take it thru 4km. Best to still take it thru at a steady pace, quicker, but only hitting terminal velocity later then maintaining it. If you see the 125metre splits in a traditional kilo, they hit the fastest speed in the first few hundred metres and are slowing over the last 500 metres. Cant slow for the second rider in a teams pursuit. Need to maintain the speed, then when gonna slow, up the bank and off.

Great job by the young oz lads. All class. They now have 5-6 serious riders all under 22 to fine tune for London. Bobridge, Dennis, Meyer, Howard, Durbridge, Hepburn.

I was thinking that. When Britain get their full team up again they'll take them in 2012.

Thomas, Burke, Clancy, Swift and supported by Tennent, Fenn. they are not as hyped as the Aussie riders but they can lower Britain's world record for this event no problem and take gold again.

in the pursuit, maybe but every where else you guys had a strong team and we trumped you!

Don't read too much into it.
Fun fact time:
Bordeaux 2006, Britian won 1 gold medal. The Netherlands came out on top there. And we all know what happened next ;)

However the Australian team is going to put up a fight, and I will be glad to watch. Track cycling is going to get very interesting in the next 2 years.

Just back from Copenhagen, and have to say the Aussie team put in a cracking performance all round. Though looking at the men's team pursuit on an individual event basis, a couple of tenths against a half strength GB team in the final suggests that Aus will struggle in 2012. If GB replaced Swift with Thomas, then GB would have won by about 1 second, thats just a 3/4 strength team then.

Have to say it was a good meet though disappointing with the attendance levels throughout, so much so that GB had by far the most attendees over the 5 days with the Danes only turning up on Saturday night for the Madison then leaving as soon as it was clear they would not win Gold. The UCI really need to think about where they hold the Worlds as full velodromes are a must, not 1/3 capacity for 8 sessions.

Without over 200 Brits in the arena it would have been nearly empty.

Let's just drop the non-Olympic events altogether then?

I guess DB needs to put a positive spin on things (not like GB's performance was bad though), but don't sacrifice other events just because they are no longer in the Olympics.

BBC AND BRITAIN = Sore Losers

we beat you so hahahahahaha!

They know we're coming!

That would not include Meares' medal in the 500m tt which is possibly going to be brought back into the olympic program.

It won't be. It's too late in the Olympic cycle now, all the events have been finalised. And i doubt it for Rio either, the Kilo/500m were dropped for BMX.

I'm not sure the Brits are sore losers. They [British Cycling/Team GB/DB] are focussed on Olympic medals so that second table has some relevancy to them. Whatever its good to see a real competition happening for medals. The last 2 or 3 years have been too predictable on the track.

Hopefully Hoy will get up to speed for 2012 not that I'm into track sprinting particularly, and Pendelton should get plenty of wins.

Thomas, Phinney, Bobridge, Burke cant go head to head in the 4 K IP, so another massive blunder by Olympic administrators yet again.

And Cancellara was talking about it, as well as maybe some other road riders... completely bad decision. They talk about level playing field regarding bikes etc. then get ride of the IP meaning a country needs 4 riders to compete at endurance track, plus all the extra coaching and investment needed to get a team cohesive...
