LOL!!!! It was Will10 who wrote the original sentence, not me. I just interchanged the subjects :D

Nice try Hitch

No you didn't. will made a statement that only if there were no mountains would tony beat Andy.

Only if all the mountain stages are cancelled will Tony Martin f

inish above Andy Schleck on GC at Le Tour.

You however seem to be asking a question , or are trying to say something but have not finished it as there is no question mark and the sentence is interrupted by a smiley. and if it was a question its a pretty dumb one - would Andy beat Martin in a tour with no tts

Ha ha, let apply your own logic. If all TTs stages are cancelled will Andy Schleck finish above Tont Martin. :D

Nice to have the occasional comedy thread to read.
This one gives the Germans a perfect opportunity to hone their fine sense of humour.

This is not a joke

This or you must be a joke.
Because you do not see Andy in the Top10.
Have seen better ones though. Posting results of Ventoux rounds it up.
But was a nice battle anyway.

I see some danger of Andy not ending up on the podium. Perhaps.

Tony will focus on "what pistolero said" + Olympics.

What is possible for Tony in a TdF final classement, with full focus, full protection and riding carefree ?
Top5 would be my most optimistic prediction.

Well, if you believe in everything that people say, then this would mean that all British women are ugly.

I could live with the result of all those clichés beeing universal facts, and would then carry my burden by help of the imagination that things could actually be worse.

Andy will be 2nd as long as Contador starts, if not he will be far behind on GC (not behind Tony, though). Tony Martin doesn't climb well enough to have a shot at top 10 and even if he did his recovery is too bad anyway.

Ask riders what winning important races can do for them, psychologically that is.

The funny thing is: Andy is a proof of it.

As of tomorrow Andy Schleck is a Tour de France champion.

Way bigger than Paris Nice.

A reminder of what could happen this year

TdF 2009 Stage 20 Montélimar - Mont Ventoux (167 km)

1 Juan Manuel Garate Cepa (Spa) Rabobank 4:39:21
2 Tony Martin (Ger) Team Columbia - HTC 0:00:03
3 Andy Schleck (Lux) Team Saxo Bank 0:00:38

4 Alberto Contador Velasco (Spa) Astana
5 Lance Armstrong (USA) Astana 0:00:41
6 Fränk Schleck (Lux) Team Saxo Bank 0:00:43
7 Roman Kreuziger (Cze) Liquigas 0:00:46
8 Franco Pellizotti (Ita) Liquigas 0:00:56
9 Vincenzo Nibali (Ita) Liquigas 0:00:58
10 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Garmin - Slipstream 0:01:03

I'm glad you brought this up. With 22km of Ventoux to go, Garate and Tony M. had 5'17 on the Schleck group, yet only maintained 35s of that advantage. Does that strike you as someone who has Tour winning potential?

No, and this thread is not about winning the Tour.

Furthermore, if Tony can climb like he did in 2009 then has the potential to be easily ahead of Andy in this year's tour.

In an under stated manner you haven't wavered from this view for as long as I can remember in any of your posts. As the hour approaches, I' think you are going to be correct.

I think so too, even if it makes me want to cry.

But gain, let's wait and see how Tony does at Paris Nice. If he does well, the haters will start to pee into their trousers anyway:D

Mende is in Paris Nice this year, that climb alone means Tony will not win the GC and that is a week long stage race with no mountains.

I have come to the conclusion that Cineteq and Bavarian are just have a laugh with this one but on a more serious note who will do better in the the tour GC Martin or Amets Txurruka?

This is ridiculous. I know everyone on this forum despises A. Schleck, but Tony Martin? Seriously? Everyone is grossly overestimating the time trials. Look at the podium of the 2008 Tour (which had more TT km's). Two pure climbers in 1st and 3rd. Schleck will certainly be top 5 - probably podium.
