Just read that Freire was shot by an air rifle in 2009 TDF. Did they catch the dirtbag that did it?

He thought the course didn't look that hard, then was told they were riding it the other way round.

:D I doubt he'd have the guts.

At least we try and spice things up with what we write on the road, don't see other races making fun of their commentators during the race.

Bad news here in Geelong - the Paella stand has run out. Word is a bunch of Spanish Journalists bought them out.

:D

Oh and thanks...should clarify i meant state capital, not Australia's capital.

What's going on with the peloton as it looks like they aren't pushing it all right now?

They will back off a little now, freire's team won't push anymore and gilbert has no need to waste more of his men so no one wants to lead the chase anymore.

Geelong isn't the state capital if that is what you were saying, Melbourne has that title.

I don't seem to remembe rstating which state capital. ;)

Julian Dean off the back now...

I'm starting to get worried that my worst fears will be realized and this will just turn into a bunch sprint. Although there is still a lot of race left, I think that the teams without true sprinters need to start upping the pace a bit to make sure that this doesn't happen.

Italy need to start applying the hammer they have 3 good options for a strong last lap but no sprinter.

Frederik Willems, who has just given up, says there is headwind in the part after the second hill to the finish, Which means it is hard to stay away, even as a group

Just done some checking ... looks like it's approx 25kmh head wind on the stretch from the hill to the beach.

No French guys in the break :(

This BBC commentator doesn't have a clue. "Gilbert has missed it!" just as the graphics come up. Keeps blathering about Boasson Hagen too. And Jesus, Oscar Free-air?!

Edit: Oh Offredo. Still, no Chavanel
