Mönchengladbach-Leverkusen. My son is Gladbach fan, the other guy from Leverkusen.

It is not my decision to make, as our son is now 18 and it is up to him. On the one hand, he wants revenge to a certain extent, but on the other hand as a die-hard fan, he knows how hard it must be not to attend the games.

He certainly knows my opinion, though.

Yeah sure, like answering violence with violence is a good idea.

Not.

That sounds too religious for my taste. Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn.
Your son does only have one nose, so he can't offer another one.

Ok, I guess you are right. ;)

On Bastille Day (07/14/11) my Workman's Comp Case was settled after 5 years. The insurance company had 25 days to mail a check. It still has not arrived. Calls to my attorney have not produced any results. I may have to go north and kick someones behind.

On a happier note the penalty for this fiasco could be $10,000:cool:

Anybody remember this? He subsequently underwent surgery on his nose.

Well, the police called today. The guy wants to apologize. Actually what he wants is that his stadium ban be shortened, and he was told that an apology was the minimum he had to do.

After thinking about the whole thing, I have realized I am not the "forgive and forget" type.

He hits my son so hard that he needs surgery, and then thinks he can say "sorry about that" and have his penalty reduced? I don't think so.....

Susan

What? You do realize/remember that in the US the guy could be facing substantial prison time and a substantial lawsuit? And your son was sixteen at the time? I hope your son decides against any sort of "mercy" for this idiot. And, I hope you can sue him to within an inch of his life.

But that's not a complaint, is it? OK, to stay on topic, I'm complaning that a "stadium ban" for this thug is not sufficient punishment.

I'm going OT and do forgive me, but I don't see how breaking somebodies nose is worth time in jail, a suspended sentence and a good behaviour bond along with a criminal record is a fair sentence for mine, and what would usually happen here. The only difference if a punch put somebody in the ICU and on life support or worse.

Yeah, I agree (also OT). I'm not saying he should be in jail. Too many people are in jail, especially here in the US, for too little. I'm just saying he got off lightly. Too lightly, even with a stadium ban, and I was using the likely US penalty to throw that fact into relief.

We found out that he did get some kind of civil penalties, a fine, I think.

My son accepted his apology, said he came across as sincere. Still don't know whether they will lift the stadium ban or not.

That applies by the way, to all stadiums in the country, which I didn't know. On the other hand, I had never thought about it before, either.

I suppose it's worth more PR points for politicians to enforce "zero tolerance" instead of addressing the actual social issues at hand as to why people commit crimes and do something about it.

Correct. And, also, in the US the prison system, a lot of it, is private and for profit. In fact it's referred to often as the prison industry. Just recently two juvenile court judges were convicted of each taking several million dollars in kickback payments in exchange for sentencing children to prison. These judges committed their crimes over a period of many years. Between that type of setup and demagogue politicians you get what we have today, and lots of ruined lives, and a lowered quality of life for everyone.

Lots to complain about, that's for sure. :)

Forgot to dust off any possible bug and bug guts off my body before heading inside to make my recovery drink before the shower. I just fished out a few wings and who knows what after it fell off my jersey into my drink, drank it anyway, too tired, nothing crunchy at least.

meh - I do a lot of building and projects around our house. I´m building the Carport and shed at the moment - not small projects, just came off the roof 9 hours today- beautiful weather - all I could think about was a long ride.

But with all the projects this Summer Ive been for 5 rides 4 when there was still snow and 1, 3 weeks ago.

I look forward to next summer when the projects are finished.

a large case of the GOMS at the moment.

Oh come on. You know better than that. There will be more projects next summer. Houses are never actually done.

I didn't think of it at first but last week gave me lot's of reasons to complain:

1. Cracked a tooth in half
2. Have a classic are at a speacialty paint shop. Guy stopped paying rent then disappeared. Had to scramble, sneak in, and steal my own car back before landlord put chains on the door. Pretty discouraged to see the little progress he made has to be redone anyway.
3. Had to run all over town searching for a garage to store car (see #2)
4. Lost my tenant in my rental property
5. My best employee resigned
6. Boss informed me that my sales territory will be cut by 35% next year but my quota remains the same.
7. Same boss admitted that our raise had been rejected
8. Daycare called me to pick up my 2 year old because he sneezed. One sneeze.
9. Loan application rejected because our condo association voted not to put reserves into this year's budget.
10. Sore throat/sinus infection

Nothing disastrous...just a lot of little annoyances. Things usually go great so I guess a tough week was bound to occur at some point, ha!

True but riding - cutting the grass is a great day - putting tiles on the roof in the wind and rain not so much :D

please add black food color to nasty tuna salad so it's never confused w chicken salad. Also provide bigger party napkins so after the gag reflex the disgust can be discarded easier
