so he can't win races anymore, isn't a team player etc. Why would anybody with a brain hire the guy?

I think he has become a team player over the years. People oftenly tend to error when judging him, which he knows and also which he doesn´t care that much about.
He also was regarded as "soft" before he broke his femur in the Tirreno ITT in March 2008, got back on his bike and rode the last 400m to the finish line with a broken femur...

Wegmann gets his first division contracts year after year without big problems, can win GP Frankfurt 1.HC and German Nationals Road Race, is allowed to peak for and be protected rider in the Ardennes where he can do Top10 on a good day in Amstel and Fleche and Top25 in Liege; so Gerdemann might return, too.

Wegmann is much more consistent than Gerdemann even though he is more suited to classics. I never knew what to make of Linus. He would disappear for a long time then pop up and do something good. An enigma.

do you think manolo saiz will come back in the game now? :D

that would be so awesome!

Yeah, I would appreciate it. He left his hidden life few days ago, and spoke about Romandie and Sky and so on. I hope this is no coincidence.

Now that Puerto BS is history, would be good to see him back, especially since Spanish cycling isn´t doing so well, what concerns teams and races, at least.

Seeing him back in cycling would be a good thing, he certainly is an epitome for cycling and its passion.

indeed.
imagine him shouting venga venga! again in the races. would be cool especially in this world where brailsford is regarded as a master tactician. let good old saiz showing him some tactics.
and hell, let belda revive the spirit of kelme and see sky under attack on every freaking climb from the start to the finish:cool:

Bailsford regarded as a tactician? By whom? That's like calling purito a cobbles specialist.

He should team up with Bruyneel.

Good joke for a laugh but they were too far apart; Bruyneel focusing on one and only guy, while Saiz ever got a very wide and complete roster.

I still remember that Vuelta stage where he got the team on 55 chainrings!

Wildcards Vuelta: Cofidis, Caja Rural and Netapp (dont know if there is a Vuelta thread so I just put it here)

Thanks.

Cofidis and Caja is no surprise. NepApp will be satisfied. Sad for IAM, however, which will receive a 2014 wildcard for a GT, I´m sure. They´re in their first year, so it´s no disaster to not have gotten one this year.

Damn, could ****in' Aso stop only one time to force Unipblic to give away consolation invites for the Vuelta?

I mean NettApp WTF!? Pretty Useless!

Why is Gianni Savio blacklisted by Unipublic? C'mmon Andoni Giocatolli would deliver so much more to the Vuelta than any other stupid PCT team. With this parcours I really thougt they might choose for Androni just one time.

I also had preferred IAM instead of NetApp, but I see no reason to invite Androni.

Other than Cofidis and Europcar, IMHO, no PCT stands a chance to get two GT wildcards in one season.

Furthermore, I doubt Androni has even gone for a Vuelta wildcard. The numerous 1.HC and 1.1 races in Italy´s autumn are much more important for them.

Cofidis is the only proconti with 2 wildcards for GTs. But I honestly don't think that they deserve it. But it's not only about performance, it's also about money and sponsors/

Yep.
If you look at Cofidis GT ambitions, they have
Taaramae, he hasn't done anything for 2 years now.
Le Mevel, hasn't done any noticeable performance since his top 10 finish in the tour.
Navarro : might have the renshaw syndrome: one of the best launching pads (climbing version in this case) but not necessarily a good leader.
Finally Coppel, he was disappointing in last year's tour and this early part of the season, hasn't shown any good form.

I forgot about the great climbers edet and bagot :p

Well, they've built up quite some credit with this man:

Would androni care for the vuelta?

I would have liked to see Colombia but only for Chavez. But good that netapp get a gt. Now take away half the world tour so more teams can get in.

but you also forgot what Moncoutie did for the Vuelta

of course, there are monetary reasons to invite Cofidis, but usually they do honor the race and their record (apart from last year) is very good, I think they deserve to get that wildcard.

What to you guys think of La Pomme Marseille. They're a very aggressive team, racing better than many ProConti teams. I believe they should think of applying for a ProcConti licence for next season.

Did anyone read the CN sponsorship report thing? Thought of starting a thread on a similar subject as it's interesting. I noticed Nike getting involved in casualwear for some WT teams, that's new, no?

Edit: BMC, Movistar, Omega Pharma Quick Step, Sky.
