Longo wins TT title. Only death will stop this woman. Why is the national championship race under 40k? She smoked it anyway but why was it so short?

Women races are always way shorter. Some work still left to do for feminists.

Impressive though.

He's up against some stern competition...

Hehe, well Hushovd hasn't ridden the TT the last few years. He's probably the one that could be closest to challenge him unless some new talent emerges. Stian Saugstad who was third was born in 1991 so he could perhaps turn into something some day.

Can't see anyone's mentioned this: Andy Schleck has won the Luxembourg TT champs ahead of Frank. Only 4 competitors.

Happy for Daniel Lloyd!

Although I'm obviously sad for Hausler having to forfeit the Tour because of his knee, I must admit I'm really happy for Dan Lloyd.

The only pro cyclist I've met face-to-face (I think) and 100% nice guy.

A decent rider, not as explosive or talented as Haussler but a very good rider. Well done too him.

Team Saxo Bank has fired Kim Andersen.

In a telephone from Luxembourg confirms Kim Andersen that cooperation with Saxo Bank is terminated, but he will not call it a firing.

I've had some wonderful years and have learned a mass and had a good position. And it's a big leap to say farewell to the team but I've got a chance you only get once in life and I have to take, "says Andersen.

The chance Kim Anderson talking about is, according to the protagonist himself the opportunity to start a whole new ProTour team, the former sports director of Saxo Bank now start up Saxo Bank's former press adviser Brian Nygaard.

- We will work on a new project here in Luxembourg - It's me and Brian Nygaard, who is working on a ProTour team, but it is new and we have a lot to see, so when we have something more specific so we report it out, says Andersen.

EDIT: Story was moved to their tour section

Yes it does lend credence to the Team Schleck rumours. It also bodes ill for Team Saxo Banks sponsor search. It doesn't prove anything, but it could be a case of rats leaving the sinking ship. I hope it's not, but..

How does this affect the relationship with the Schlecks and Riis going into the Tour? This can't possibly be a good thing.

yes indeed that doesn't look so good. Too bad they couldn't wait for after the Tour. We'll see how Bjarne takes it ... he made the Schlecks and now they turn their back on him ...

Cavendish and Wiggins war of words in the daily mail

I think it is more of a non-story than anything. Cav says Wiggo has no chance so Wiggo says Cav won't win green

It's not that simple...

I also think it's Riis who didn't want to wait; Andersen says he'd preferred to do the tour first but understands Riis's wish not to include him.

No matter what, and many riders change teams during the Tour, the Schlecks want to win the tour, Riis wants to win the tour - so they're going to give it their best shot. Maybe even a harder shot if indeed this will be their last season with Riis.

The riders, not just those two, have to look out for number one. They need their futures settled soon.

In the end I think the lack of a sponsor announcement from Riis might have to do with this. To the degree he knew this, he could not in good faith guarantee a new sponsor that he would actually have the Schlecks come next season - and Cancellara or no Cancellara -that's important to sponsors.

Guess this might mean Cav isn't going to Sky anytime soon perhaps...
