If today is the deadline for proving adequate funding is in place for teams renewing their UCI licence for next year, should we be expecting some clarification on ChinAstana any moment now?

UCI only communcates at the beginning of December somewhere about which teams get their license for the next year, but I think you can see earlier which teams have applied so I guess we could see ChinAstana's new name pretty soon. Will probably be something like Team XDS

Because, apparently, the money wasn't good enough.

Or maybe cycling teams, which are probably capable of paying a salary that would bring any triathlete running (after swimming and cycling) weren't interested in offering him a contract.
At least Blummenfelt's coach will now work in cycling. Olav Aleksander Bu becomes head coach for Uno-X.

Emile Daems passed away yesterday.
In a 6 year career he won 3 monuments, 6 GT stages and some semi-classics.

Always a little sad when a former top rider passes away.
I was aware of him and that he was at only at his best for a short time.
Now looking at his profile he won Lombardy, Roubaix and San Remo.
Most of today's riders, but not quite all perhaps, would retire happy with that.

I keep reading about pro cyclists and bleached hair. and i don't like it. It makes me feel a certain something has well and truly crept back into the peloton.
Who is the latest victim? Is there a thread for rider hair already...

On that note I hated it when Healy cropped and bleached his hair for the Tour, he had such awesome, long, dark and wavy natural hair prior, and then something possessed him... I think football (soccer) players frequently do stupid things to their hair, but when cyclists do it at least they have to put a helmet over it. So there's at least that.

Edit: I've just become aware of Clinic-related reasons athletes might bleach their hair, but I'll just leave that discussion and speculation to the Clinic.

I remain of the opinion that the text 'cyclinguptodate.com' should be added to the forum's spam filter.
I think I used that site once for a race thread I had started for the stage writeups they had, didn't know that site was unwelcome here. :(

Is idlprocycling.com a better site? I ask because, hot off the press, they have a story about MvdP sporting a bleached hairdo too! It doesn't look like a mullet though, so thank goodness for that.

I'm kind of surprised MvdP plays golf, any other riders who do? (It's still a slow news day.)

Another place with stage write ups for the bigger races is

So, it looks like sane folks are abandoning Twitter for the new good place called Bluesky. (which I recommend, at the moment its like twitter before it went all hateful)

I'm guessing the answer is 'what?' & 'no idea', but does anyone here use it, & or know any cyclists/journos/teams/etc who use it?

At the moment I know of KatyM is on it writebikerepeat.bsky.social & Jose Bean https://bsky.app/profile/josebeentv.bsky.social

& the teams https://bsky.app/profile/dsmfirmpostnl.bsky.social & https://bsky.app/profile/greenedgecycling.bsky.social & @soudalquickstep.bsky.social

The Bengals' QB? Had to do a little googling, apparently he has a foundation that has been hosting a golfing event for the past couple of seasons, this year they raised over $ 1 million for hunger relief and mental health help for youth. So I think that's pretty cool, I won't be revoking his NFL license. MvdP's cycling license though I'm still sleeping on. ;) (Just kidding, I think it's cool even some cyclists play golf.)

I get the impression that for football (soccer) pros, golf is a huge thing. Training lasts only about 3 hours a day, they are people with a strong competitive spirit, clubs like the idea of teammates spending time together, and that they do an activity that won't cause injury or involve huge alcohol intake. Probably virtually compulsory, and I suspect the same is true for rugby, American football and other sports.

But no excuse for cyclists to be doing such a thing.
