On the other hand it means Moreno Moser will be leader :)
silver lining and all that
He's 21 years old and I'm not sure if he's ever even done a 260 km+ race...not even Sagan could handle such long races in his first (nor his second) season as a professional. So I wouldn't expect too much.

Nibali is clearly the team leader here. The way he's ridden monuments this year can't be forgotten.

And I say this as one of the greatest fans of Moreno.

Anyway, truly bad news for the italian team. Cunego, Ballan and Gaspa could've had crucial roles in the Worlds.

Anyone reading La Gazzetta dello Sport today?

Apparently they are reporting Italian World's team won't include Ex-dopers AND people currently involved in doping investigations (including Damiano Cunego, Alessandro Ballan, Enrico Gasparotto, Giovanni Visconti). LINK

I came late.
Donno why they would say Pozzato cant ride as he isnt investigated at all.

He contested victory at the Nationals, 254kms.

Yeah, but the Italian championships isn't really an indication of one day racing talent anymore. ;)

I think that ended the moment Bettini helped Visconti win it.

I'd select those, 3 extra team-mates for Gilbert. :D

Portuguese pre-selection for the Worlds:
André Cardoso (Caja Rural)
Manuel Cardoso (Caja Rural)
Rui Costa (Movistar Team)
Tiago Machado (Radioshack-Nissan)
Sergio Paulinho (Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank)
Bruno Pires (Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank)

Colour me surprised at no Ribeiro.

it does make sense. all those guys will be going into the worlds in top shape while ribeiro must be way down in shape from not racing since early august compared to them.

final selection should be costa, machado, andre and paulinho imo (4 riders iirc) which actually makes up for a pretty good team capable of doing something interesting.

Wow, it seems like ITV are finally pulling their finger out. Maybe we'll see the Giro/monuments get covered next year or is that too much to expect?

I read somewhere (may have been on here) that ITV have the rights to RvV, P-R and a couple of others, yet done chose to show them

So finally Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo has a logical explanation not to call Sérgio Ribeiro. ufff... Glad we get that out of the way.

Like moncoutie, niermann from rabo is retiring after the vuelta

Every year I think he's retired. Then he makes the Rabobank team for a GT again.
