Contador deserves our applause!

I am lucky enough to have ridden behind AC when he was going full bore, albeit it was a training ride here on Gran Canaria and I was going full bore and I suspect not he, but I have to my credit earned a slap on the back from him for at least staying for about 500m.

I do recall seeing that finely tuned racing frame slowly wind it up and I knew that I was going out the back. Seeing him again today attack and attack and attack and was he laughing there at the end. He came 4th but I suspect he wasn't bothered in much the same way as he wasn't bothering about me then.

He'll be here again on GC with Roche I suspect next Jan or Feb and I hope he's Vuelta Champion, he's already earned it!

for real??? Even tho i'm dutch, that's just too much imo. For those non dutch readers: It's saying that the vuelta organization has decided to return to holland in 2015 where 5 stages will be held. Starts with 31 km TTT.

New UCI rule: Rest days can't happen before the 5th day of racing, otherwise it's like having a GT with just 1 rest day which is too much for athletes.

So it was either do 5 stages in Holland or go to Spain during the night with no sleep and race again the next day

yeah just read it the newpaper as well, 5 stages in The Netherlands is crazy.
Why not add some Belgian stages and make it the Eneco Vuelta.

5 pan flat stages, Jesus Christ how boring.

That is so depressing. Obviously it will be hard to ever start again from your beginings after having 2 olympic golds in arms reach and losing it all on one turn (of pitch and toss)

but i was hoping at least the chance at a road rainbow jersey might motivate him.

I guess there goes the entire - worlds > olympics theory.

Well, maybe the worlds > olympics, but the Olympics massively benefits from the Tour. It's possible, as we saw, to do Tour and Olympics in one peak. It's a lot harder to do other season goals (apart from Vuelta) and Worlds together, especially when preparation is less than ideal due to injuries.

Cancellara manager says he is taking a long break and won't ride anymore in 2012 (so no WC(ITT)). Radioshack spokeman does not confirm.

Really sad news. He's had some tough years now, hopefully he'll bounce back next year but I doubt that since he stays with Radioshack.

Might as well give the worlds ITT title to Tony Martin already. With no Cancellara and no Wiggins the competition will be quite lousy.

IS Alberto competing in the worlds ITT then?

He might actually have a chance if at his best level, the cauberg is in the ITT after all

yes, iirc he has said more then once that he wants to try and win the itt and will work for purito and piti on the road race, but imo he will race for himself on both.

Yes what parrulo says, he thinks the rr is better suited to piti and purito and will ride the TT for the win

Kenda 5 hour energy will be merging with Competitive cyclist. Good thing for Kenda for sure. Bigger team might lead to bigger chance of getting an invite to Toc, utah, colorado

Apparently Evans was suffering from an infection, which explains his (bad) results this season. BMC's top priority is making sure he can get back to his 2011 level now. Evans says he was dissapointed about his results, but wants to come back strong.

Evans isn't the only one that's been suffering from a infection. BMC's other big names Hushovd and Gilbert suffered from infections as well earlier in the year.

Indeed, it's quite mysterious how all of the team's big stars have suffered from this unidentified, peculiar virus which has totally screwed up their respective seasons. Really bad luck, I guess...
