All of these could produce a really good course. I would say my least favourite option is Melbourne, mainly because we only had Geelong quite recently. Bogotá would be interesting with the altitude, Bergen would be the most beautiful as well as hopefully very tricky, and Innsbruck gives plenty of opportunities for a really nice, tough circuit.

The UCI Road World Championship 2017 host city candidates are:

* Bergen, Norway
* Bogotá, Colombia
* Innsbruck, Austria
* Melbourne, Australia

Colombia I hope, and finish on the climb Quintana climbed every day to get to school as a kid. He would demolish everyone! Of course he could probably demolish everyone on any climb in Colombia. :D

Bogota like Medellin could be as hard as you want, though at 1000m higher up. The usual 100k run in though, would be difficult to avoid a proper mountain or 2.

Medellin would be great though because Uran, Henao and Betancur all hail from around there.

On the other hand Bogota produced your beloved Chavez of course:D.

how hard would be the route in bogota?

i would rather take the road race in pablo escobar's town and made them race at least 15 times up santa helena.

You don't think finishing in the city after a 18km descent from this would work?

The alternative to that would be to descend for 9km from the summit of El Verjón and put in the last two kilometres of this:

One of the greatest finishing spots in all of cycling.

Let me have my dreams, damnit.

I also want a Worlds in Glauchau with the Steiler Wand on it, a Worlds in Bilbao going up and down El Vivero and Artxanda, a Worlds in Prague with the cobbled climbs in Mála Strána, a Worlds in Sintra, a Worlds in Argentina (preferably San Carlos de Bariloche, or Villa General Belgrano) and a Worlds in Reykjavík passing Hallgrímskirkja and with an uphill finish at Perlan.

I'd also like the Olympic RR at Rio to finish at Cristo Redentor.

Herald Sun Tour final stage has been cancelled due to police and emergency service resources being dragged away from the race to deal with bushfires.

Had a feeling the fires might impact on the race. Sad to see the stage not raced. TDU were very lucky not to also be affected. Been a very hot summer in Melbourne and Adelaide.

I hop they dare to choose bogota. because that is serious altitude (near 3000 metres). just a "flat" itt there would be so interesting on such altitude

Unbelievable that a land with nearly zero cycling culture will host the Worlds in '16. Oh money... To be honest that is very disrespectful from UCI to us fans, and to the sport as well.

Rooting for Bergen for '17. Amazing scenario and nice terrain.

of course. they are 2 completely different teams
I know, but they serve the same sponsor. In cycling sponsors are very important. What happens if Movistar tells Team Ecuador that if they don't support Team Movistar during races they both ride the sponsorship for 2015 won't continue?

If Bergen gets it I'd be tempted to do the one thing I said I'd never do: Travel to a foreign country for a race.
Unfortunately it would depend on my situation regarding Uni; if I went I'd go for the entire week!

That's just gonna be confusing!
