Doubt it'll happen.
The spanish already tried that with Ponferrada in 2014. The UCI let it go, until about 2 months before the race when they suddenly nixed it saying the rules didn't allow it. has to be flat.

This is the heading of the link:

The international cycling federation UCI announced on 1 year celebration of RR World Cup in 2017 that to the finish of TT men elite are added "mount Floien". This provides a spectacular and breathtaking ride in the middle of World Cup week.

It came from UCI, not the organisers.

But who knows with those guys.

Lol, that's what I'm trying to tell you, it's not flat anymore:

"UCI Head of Road Matthew Knight had the pleasure of presenting a mountain finish for the mens elite time trial event at the "1 year to go show" in Bergen. This will surely result in one of the most spectacular time trial events in the history of the UCI Road World Championships.

Finish at Mount Floien will provide the world's best riders a proper climbing challenge towards the finish. The road up Mount Floien is 3.4 kilometers, with over 300 meters of elevation gain, giving a rise of 9.1 percent on average.

Spectacular finish
- We are really happy that we can present this today. It will be one of the most scenic and spectacular finishes of a time trial event in the UCI Road World Championships, says Matthew Knight, Head of Road in the UCI."

There's a profile in the bottom of the article I linked to.

I think it's a good thing BTW

Mapped it out, I could've made some mistakes early on and also on which roads they use to get to Bergamo Alta, and on which road it ends but the middle should be correcut

It's harder than 2014 IIRC. Quite short though, at only 235km which is why I think I may have gone wrong as it's almost too short for monument length, although Lombardia is often slightly shorter than the rest. Valcava and San Antonio Abbondonato are proper climbs, though. Selvino is easy, and so is the penultimate climb. I quite like it.

Edit: can't get it as an image because 'impossible to verify size'. Help me mods

Memo to self: Next time scroll down on urls

That Lombardia route actually looks great
The flat section before Bergamo Alta is ofc not perfect but I think you can't really do anything better when you have to finish in Bergamo. But besides that flat section it's basically only up and down from the start of Valcava to the end of the descent of Selvino. And this hard middle section is also relatively long, with 5 climbs. As a comparison, the whole lombardia route last year had 5 climbs, and one of them was way more far out, and the last climb was just a little bump only slightly harder than Bergamo Alta. Maybe they could have used the Sormano early in the race, before Madonna Ghisallo, so the start of the race gets harder and some domestiques maybe are more tired at the end, but besides that I really wouldn't know how you could make it better.

San Fermo della battaglia is a lot harder than Bergamo Alta imo.

If just scrap the climb altogether. Have a flat run in to Bergamo, force action earlier.
