Apparently they really want to do the double Zoncolan in 2018, just recently Sutrio spend 300k for works on the 3rd, unused road of the Zoncolan from Priola, 8.9 km at 12.8%.

I think that a double Zoncolan ascent would be a logistic nightmare, you can't really use the Sutrio side as the first one, the narrow tunnel's on the Ovaro side would be a problem for the neutral cars on the descent and Zoncolan from Ovaro would also be a mess, the final 3km of the Zoncolan form Priola would be identical to the first 3 of the descent.
You could descent back down to Sutrio right after the junction of the 2 ascents or you could have the finish right there, there's a Ski station right at junction. In that case the final climb would be 5.7km at 12.8%.

Or just resurrect Crostis!

Tirreno - Adriatico 2017

The stage to Terminillo and the one to Fermo the only real highlights.

Not a fan of the TTT, but stage 2 seems nice (if it is like last year's finish). Terminillo is a proper climb, really hard, which means that Stage 5 is perfectly placed and could be really exciting. Unfortunately because of the earthquakes the route could not have been extremely adventurous, but I think this route is better than the previous two years.

Yes, at least it looks like a proper modern Tirreno-Adriatico route, I like it and they got the order of the stages right, the Fermo stage has the potential to be great.
If there's a bit of snow on the Terminillo and the *** start crying about riders safety (on a freaking MTF!) once agin you still have the Fermo stage for the actuakl gc contenders to attack.

Seems kinda meh. Have a flat-ish stage after Terminillo and then a proper hilly stage (or at least several laps of the Fermo circuit). At least it's better than last year.

I don't really like the route but it's a huge improvement compared to last year.

Edit: @Brullnux: I think the finish of stage 2 is unfortunately different.

Yeah I noticed. It's weird though, as the climb seems to have been kept the same, it is just the finish line that has been brought a kilometre forward, or the other side to get up to Pomarance has a weirdly similar profile.

Edit: Apparently not. I am slightly confused as I have not seen the map, but there seem to be a lot of roads up to Pomarance

Gave the Cuddles-podcast a listen yesterday. Never like the guy beforehand and that certainly didn't change. His cringe voice and him permanently grumbling over that and that team didn't treat him well etc. Oh gosh. He was a good rider and a real fighter, but who like this guy?

Funny, that's about what Henk Vogels says, that Cadel is always whining.

A few years back he told a story about a TdF at Lotto when by the 3rd week they were all so sick of his constant complaining about every little thing, that when Cadel made this nothing comment about the window being open causing a draft, Nick Gates - who wasn't riding, just there to visit the team - finally snapped and started yelling at him. 'Jesus will you f***ing shut up already', etc etc

I like Evans - A talented rider who had his quirks - Nothing wrong with Evans.

I assume you are an Aussie then. Yes, big assumption.
He reminds me of a baby. Both his voice and his complaining.

Nah - Evans is no different to other elite athletes - They are driven individuals who live in their ' own bubble ' which at times may be to the detriment of others - For example, Cavendish's middle name is ' problems ' - Resolve one problem and then quickly another problem occurs - This is the nature of the beast.

You don't really seem to get it. Evans is just annoying AF.

There's a lot to Evans that made me cringe than just his voice, though it's indeed annoying AF

I can't remember it well so this is a bit of a s**tpost, but there's an anecdote in C Wegelius' autobiography in which Evans seems terribly gauche; along the lines of the Evans' visiting casa Wegelius, not bringing a present for the host and then criticising the wine or something. Like every account of riding with Evans, Wegelius also came to loathe him.

Is it necessary to post that a rider's manner/voice/attitude 'annoys you.'

This is fairly much an adult forum.

Post in the rider's thread then.

Being annoyed by the voice of a retired rider (of all things...) is neither "general" nor "news". It's just useless spam.

Don't know if it was Wegelius, but some rider a while back wrote about Cadel coming over for dinner, bringing wine as "a gift", doing almost all the drinking, and then taking the remaining wine with him when he left
