Oh, and we've known for a while now that Vacansoleil has set its sights on a GC rider. L'Equipe now knows who it is: Denis Menchov.

Well the chain incident certainly spiced it up, but face it all they did so far was look at each other.

I'm starting to question their sexuality tbh. Looks like they have a crush on each other.

Danish online newspapers says Riis moderated his language after chaingate because og Contador riding for him next year.

Obviously the Schlecks won't be riding with Riis next year. They (+ Gerdeman) will be riding for Kim Andersen in Luxembourg.

Bobbie Traksel and Wouter Mol are leaving Vacansoleil at the end of the season. For Traksel it's money, and for Mol, it is the length of the new contract.

I doubt that this is true but if it is then it would further fuel the duel between Contador and Schleck by incorporating the rivalry between the two "danish" teams.

Also I wonder how riders that are friends with the Schlecks but still have contracts with Riis would feel about riding for Contador against the Schlecks. I would be a weird situation for them perhaps then again they are allprofessionals.

You are right, most are professional. Just look at how Riis reacted publicly when he found out about the Schlecks and Kim Andersen. Class act if you ask me. The public opinion demanded that Riis gave them the boot. But no, he said this is a part of cycling, it's a business.

Danish commentators also talking about Riis-Contador rumours. In the pre-stage interview, Riis said somthing like "not at the moment" when asked about a possible Contador-contract. Riis and Contador both use Specialized btw.

LOL! Thanks for the update, thought he was going to be a contender going by his form in 2007, since then he's disappeared!
No he didn't.

2008:
2nd in Castilla y Leon (1. Contador, 2. Soler 3. T.Dekker)
-Injured in important races / not starting or finishing

2009:
2nd on Mont Faron in Meditterraneen
2nd in the Settimana Lombarda
3rd in Giro stage 3, uphill finish in San Martino di Castrozza
5th in Giro stage 10, mountain stage in Pinerolo
-Again dropped out due to injury-
5th in Burgos
6th in Trofeo Melinda
14th in Coppa Sabatini
11th in Giro dell'Emilia

2010:
2nd in stage 3 of Castilla y Leon (1. Anton 2. Soler 3. Contador)
-Again hammered by falls and injuries later on-

So as you can clearly see, between all injuries and bad luck, he has shown glimpses of his class. He has lost none.
He is still with the best climbers everytime he is fit to start.

So I wish people would stop claiming he 'dissapeared' or is a 'one-tour fly'.
He is not. Results show this.
Pay more attention people. The world is not only about a few big races

Santander announces they won't sponsor a cycling team.

Thus, the bank has denied the rumors that you plan to support a cycling team taking advantage of the pull of Alberto Contador.
In a press conference, the CEO of the entity, Alfredo Saenz, settled the matter: "Those rumors are not true and we have no idea of sponsoring a cycling team."

In addition, Saenz added that "sequels are never good," referring to the Banesto cycling team "that had great success."

Thanks Dekker-Tifosi for the detailed record of Soler's since his Tour success. I for one never gave up on him and have been following his career since that time. Hopefully he can minimize his crashes/falls and make it through an entire grand tour showing us all his climbing prowess and natural aggressive riding.
