(googling translation)

Poor guy, was not aware of his health issues. Quite too young. I recall him from my very first years of conciously following the sport. He was always mentioned as an unfulfilled talent and certainly ended his career too soon.

Not that he was a similar rider, but reminds me of Fabio Taborre who also passed away at a very young age - at an age he should be still or about to leave the peloton.

Is that related to the fact that we're being forced to downgrade to MAX (***)?
It looks like that the big media companies are seperating off anything that's losing money (traditional TV) and lumping together everything else (streaming TV & sports).
Infact yesterday came more news and a Christmas time bump for the share price -

Warner Bros. Discovery said Thursday it will create two distinct operating divisions, one focused on global linear TV with “news, sports, scripted and unscripted programming” and the other housing its global streaming platform–which includes Max—and film studios.

Yeah, but it's a downgrade compared to Discovery+.
Well, as long as you keep handing over your money, WarnerBrosDiscovery don't give a s**t.
Unfortunately we're stuck with WBD until 2030 at least -

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe today extends its rights to show a colossal collection of the world’s greatest cycling races until at least 2030.

Rik Van Looy has died. Record holder of most stage wins in a single Vuelta, 8.

Isn't Freddy Maertens the one with most stages in a single Vuelta?

Anyway RIP.
