You're aware that the Tour is in July? And that most of the distance in these stages is not in England?
This is england. Its either cold and wet or just cold. Our summer lasts for one week. Which is a good job because its either too hot or too hot and wet.

Anyway, stage one of the 2014 tour - who remembers froome finishing 6th in the bunch sprint?

From someone who used to live in Carlisle (mad that it is finishing there), to now living in Cardiff. You might as well call it the tour de me.

I understand the sentiment. It was quite surreal to have the Giro start and finish in Horsens where I have lived throughout my childhood...

This sounds a bit like when Danes complain about how it's always raining in Denmark when in fact it doesn't rain that often...

Although it's a nice few stages, the Welsh stage is a bit disappointing that they don't do either The Tumble, which is the most famous climb in Wales, with a great history in British Cycling. They also avoid Llangynidr Mountain as well, so the biggest and most well known climbs in Wales are being avoided.

Bwlch y Groes is harder than the Tumble, though i accept out of the way and not realistic.

Keswick and Welshpool as stage starts are way more random, tbh. If you're starting from the Central Belt and heading into England down the west side of the Pennines then Carlisle is far and away the most obvious place to finish.
yeah you are right, but the only thing that ever happens in carlisle is a tob start every 10 years and finding the odd roman remains.

Stage 3 is interesting if ridden hard. Given length of stage and general difficulty of terrain in last 150km (very little flat) then Caerphilly difficult enough to cause gaps especially if the main protagonist goes. Finish may be somewhere else in Cardiff than ToB finish judging by fact looks like 13km from
Top to finish which is slightly longer than ToB i think
~same finish-line, different direction in cardiff

yeah, easy to incorporate those two climbs

They did also announce the start/finishes for TdFF2027 Grande Bretagne stages as well 🙃

Stage 1 starts in Leeds, capital of Yorkshire according to them (i can feel people in York already foaming at the mouth about that one). and finishes in Manchester.

Stage 2 will start in Manchester, pop across snake pass and finish in Sheffield

And Stage 3 will be London...Emma Pooleys city apparently, look i know she was born in Wandsworth, but we're stretching the links here, and no doubt its just another godawful RideLondon style crit stage anyway

Not if you are, as was said, heading into England.
Gretna Green is only about 10 miles from Carlisle so it doesn't make much practical difference. I think it's a little unfair that England now has about 10 TdF stage finishes whereas Scotland has 0. Although in fairness, Carlisle was part of Scotland about 1,000 years ago.
