but say for example if norway do come 10th, and GBR 11th.
And norway only have 3 scoring riders, and thus cannot bring a full sqaud, would next in line (GBR) get 9 spots. I was under the assumption they didn't?

The route for this year's Tour of Britain has been announced.

tob2011_map_600.jpg

No stage profiles or even distances yet, but some vaguely interesting information. There will actually be racing in Scotland and Wales this year, which is nice, and the London stage has been split in to a (presumably short) I.T.T. and a circuit race.

No real climbing still, but that was to be expected.

According to Cycling Weekly stage 4 appears to be the toughest

"Stage four's Welsh excursion looks set to be the toughest of the race, taking in part of the Brecon Beacons and Caerphilly Mountain - expect the overall classification to be shaken up here."

Norway had 9 riders in 2009 with only 2 scoring riders.

Are you saying it should be like that or it is like that?

Because in recent years this hasn't been the case: Luxembourg brought a lot of riders to Varese for example, and of course most of them amateurs. One of them, Christian Poos (former Festina stagiaire, now CT Differdange), even made it into the break of the day.

However that was the only time in recent years that they took amateur riders to fill the slots. In Stuttgart and Geelong, they started with 4 or 5 riders IIRC, bringing only the ones that can ride on such a high level, and disclaimed the rest of their spots. But even last year they brought an amateur, Jempy Drucker (now Verandas Willems)

In other news:

Gilbert will ride the Tour de France

Guess you were sleeping last year ;) Last year the rule of the scoring riders went in, which is why Luxembourg f.e couldn't select 9 men even if they wanted do. Same goes for norway

This year I might head out to a few stages if true :p

I really wanna boo TGAK :p

Well lets hope he comes. The stage to Arthurs Seat looks quite good. 4 circuits with a finishing climb of 3km @10%. I hope Morabito comes back to race as he has his only career wins in Australia which was at this race.

I don't think Timmy hates him, it is more because I massively over-hype him (even though I think he is a talent) and he's balancing out a bit;). "The Great Alexander Kristoff " is a forum joke like TGBM (The Great Bauke Mollema) is as the Dutch mafia (who you are suppose to hate:p) were continually talking him up during the giro so I made that name up for him and the rest is history...:p

btw, the Sun Tour is in mid october, Just after the Tour of Beijing.

Haha yea I was wondering what on earth was going on when they all acted like bauke mollema was the greatest ever and called him TGBM. AK surely needs to work on his positioning in the sprint, all the top 10s arent gd enough. But according to PCM danilo wyss is a better sprinter than TGAK

Danilo positions better but isn't as fast as Alex. He was 4th in Vattenfall last year. He was only just beat by Farrrar, EBH and and Greipel and he was positioned way back.

Hopefully he can pick up a win this season :)

i like the sun race, just always had a weak field. Maybe weak isn't the right word, well one that didn't interest me anyway.

oh yes i remember watching that, I think that was his best result. Got any thoughts on who from BMC can get a win from romandie or the giro. And when is the strade bianche stage?
