Are they any closer to getting a new sponsor or can we consider them dead and buried? Unthinkable that Cobo, de la Fuente and Menchov haven't been snapped yet.

How do you think to which team Cobo may really move? :) Perhaps, there's never been so little agiotage around the GT winner's future, particularly considering how showily Juanjo did it.

You've got to be kidding. Caja Rural doesn't match Cobo's status. :p Probably, Vacansoleil will invite him. Apparently they should have some money after Ricco and Mosquera's dismissal.

Caja Rural appears to be a pretty strong pro-conti team next year, i would love to see him there too. Seriously, he gained in status pretty much, but i fail to see loads of PT teams hunting for his contract.
Vacansoleil has unsettled problems with Ricco and Mosquera at the moment and they may consider Cobo as the potential problem too.

Exactly, that was my point about Caja Rural. They're building a strong team for the future. And that's good with the ever dwindling Spanish peloton over the past few years.

Huh, "a potential problem" applies to any rider today. What can Caja Rural give Cobo except guaranteed participating at the Vuelta? I think, he will choose this option only in a pinch.

"a potential problem" applies to riders which showed an unexpectedly big progress in small period of time first of all. You're overrating a bit the importance of his current status, especially in the situation he is in now.

though "a potential problem" is more clinic stuff...

Сobo had showed a big progress 4 years ago after what for various mostly uknown reasons couldn't prove himself at his best. If Mollema or Froome had won the Vuelta, it would have been a far bigger surprise for me at least. I'm sure Cobo has enough offers from WT teams. Its about a salary and Matxin. Cobo without him is weaker than Rujano without Savio.

Gianetti has been able to find a sponsor every year since 2008 I think so it's not impossible.

Maybe he'll get a number of small sponsors like getting back AMPO (that was a sub-sponsor for Lampre this year)
