Think we might get ahead of ourselves here. G hasn't proven that he can hang with best on a real mountain stage with several hard climbs. To me it isn't totally unexpected that G could do something like this on one climb. He is a fairly skinny rider with a great engine. Compare his performance with Gallopin, another rider that weighs around 70 kilos: G beat Gallopin with 21 seconds today. If G is 5th on a stage like stage 12, I start raising some eyebrows.
Eyebrows raised?

Yep! :)

G was superstrong, he pulled quiet a few kilometers in the headwind...

No that headwind missed the sky train did a 180 and pushed them along

Thomas 15kg heavier than Quintana but managed to chase him down on PdB at the end of the Queen stage of a TdF.

If that doesn't ring any alarm bells in pro cycling you are braindead.

Funny RaceRadio compared Thomas to Hincapie and is getting abuse for it from Sky fans.

What a joke pro cycling is!

He's way better than hincapie.

Correct me if im wrong but did hincapie ever do that in MTF?

I know he won one in 2005 but that was in a break, this is against the best climbers in the world and he brought them all back.

If Froome didn't start and Sky rode for Thomas from stage 1 he would be comfortably in yellow at this point.
Let that sink in.
After the Pyrenees
Today was just outrageous. He looks like the strongest climber in the race.
Everyone that is supposed to be in the favorite group is there. And he, of all riders, looks the strongest. On that stage. On that MTF. Against that field.

'02 Armstrong 45.55.
'04 Armstrong and Basso 45.31.

Classics specialist Thomas, chasing down attacks as a domestique, 45.38. And today was a headwind.

So lest the point be forgotten, dude pulled hard against strong winds that whole first week. Real hard. As in nobody put in as much work. And nobody but maybe Sagan, Kwiato made pulls that were quite as hard.

Makes you wonder how good he could be, he has been riding entirely in Froome's service and could have given up minutes in doing so.

Plateau de Beille often compared to Mont Ventoux. Thomas conceded 27 minutes to Quintana on Mont Ventoux in 2013.

Obviously racing circumstances were different, but illustrates the huge climbing improvements Thomas has made this year.

At the age of 30 that is cleans

Yes, circumstances were different, he had a broken pelvis. At least make valid comparisons.

Faster than Lance. The Great Welsh Mountain Goat.
Is that confirmed? Considering there was a headwind and a lot of stop start attacking at the midway point, I doubt they rode PDB particularly fast today.

Yep confirmed by jens.

That's what you wanted right? Thomas riding better than armstrong xD
