Regarding to Andy Schleck, in his 2010/2009 climbing form he is clearly in a different bracket than Gesink uphill. Only Contador is better uphill than that Andy Schleck...
The rest is worse, yes even 100% Evans and 100% Menchov are clearly worse uphill than 2009/10 Andy
Luckily Bruyneel has changed Andy's preparation, so that it's a complete question in what kind of form he will arrive in the Tour

Actually the Rabo boys are almost the only Tour "contenders" who will do Suisse rather than Dauphine... I'm curious how that will work out (my guess is: not good)

Oww that is a very serious accusation. I am downplaying a broken leg.

Universally aknowledged as one of the worst injuries an athlete can get and you have come to the conclusion that i am underestimating it.

Excuse me, exactly where did I underestimate Gesink's injury?

Was it when i said that he could not possibly be on top form for the Tour after it, or when i said it took tremendous courage on his part just to get back on his bik?

I mean you must have seen some evidence somewhere, or did you not read my posts and just decide to make something up and hope it sticks?
Nice deflection off of the point of my post; your obvious overreaction. I don't think I'll waste anymore time on you. Go cry somewhere else over the fact that people differ of opinion with you and bruised your ego.

Fair point, however that's beside the point I was trying to make with my post; your blatant overreaction to people differing of opinion with you. Talk to me about that and stop trying to deflect the real point of discussion here, you seem to have a real knack for being dramatic.

And what opinion where people differing with me on?

That Basso's injury effected his tour performance? Didnt see anyone disagreeing with me on that? Both DT and youngest admitted that he was, they just both felt the need to point out that Gesinks was worse, as if I had been claiming that Basso's was.

So what opinion were people disagreeing with me on?

Give an answer to that, then feel welcome to claim im deflecting the real point of discussion and make another one up.

Oh and since you now admit that you falsely accused me, you don't think an apology is in order?

That no one has downplayed Basso's injury or claimed that it has not affected him in any way en route to the Tour. However, that given the choice, Gesink would have most likely chosen a bruised face over a broken leg. Isn't that why you decided to throw a hissy fit at D_T's 2-sentence post? Comparing him to La Florecita and how worse he is than her obsession with Contador? Lol. What a drama queen. Keep on deflecting though, you seem to be an expert in that department. ;)

Edit: Shouldn't you apologize to D_T and the rest of the people posting in here for having to deal with your uncalled-for drama?

no wonder you get so upset by my posts. You don't understand hyperbole at all.

When i say dt is like la flo, that doesn't mean that i think he is. It is hyperbole.

Its like when Ryo said that DT is so thin, he worries that the cauberg wind will blow him away. He didn't mean it literally

Actually as i recall the first time round you launched your attacks on me, about a year ago actually, it was because you also then, took every single sentence i posted at 100%.

DT btw, judging by the stories his real life friend - Ryo Hazuki tells, and by his own posts, and by the reputation of his beloved dutch speaking forum - pcm benelux, is capable of absorbing significantly more hard hitting material than comparisons to the flower girl, and i would expect, considering he has actually spent time with Ryo (who considers telling people they are morons beyond repair, as a compliment) , he is not half as bothered by my posts as you are.

Maybe you shouldn't take offense on the part of others, particularly since you don't know the whole story ( me and the dutchies, especially dt, have been on and off allying and feuding for 2 years, and never is it personal, whereas you leave the forum for vast ammounts of time and then come in and take offense on his part as if i was reading a list of the worlds most insulting rap lines, to his face ).

As for the accusation that i was downplaying a broken leg, it really is not nice, no matter how horrible a punishment you percieve my "subjecting others to my drama" to be, the former is a little bit worse;)

Yeah most of that is true. However you were overreacting a bit :p even for you.

Back to Gesink, he's turning 26 today! And as a birthday gift he had a 210km training ride up the mountains with Kruijswijk. And their trainer 'Delahaye' had some dutch traditional 'koekhappen' for them at their break.

We all have the right to be offended Hitch, you know that  I hate that kind of mentality, that someone is pretending to be offended by something someone says about a non-related third person but because it has the words "shot" and "family" and "in front of" in one sentence, we all are deeply shocked and concerned while the 8 year old we are concerned about is playing counterstrike or whatever game it is in which he is clubbing an old lady to death with a baby seal.

Apologies for the rant.

Going for GC at the ToC was the wrong thing to do with the Tour in mind. But if you take that as a given, Switzerland is the next logical step.

I'd have selected the other Rabo Tour de France "contenders" for the Dauphine, though, despite their good results in Switzerland last year. Unless Rabobank is desperate for results or WT points, that is.

I highly doubt this is a case of me not understanding hyperbole and more of a case of me not knowing when you are using hyperbole. There is a difference, but thanks for the ridiculous presumption ;). Moreover, coming out in defense of other people is just who I am, I do it in real life and thus, here, whenever I feel they are being treated unfairly. D_T is not the only one that I have jumped to their defense and will certainly not be the last. This will continue to be the case after this post, so if you want to criticize me on my character than go ahead. Albeit having a better understanding of your posting style when it comes to certain posters on this forum don't forget that D_T did, after my initial post, asked you to calm down before his last post where he, after agreeing to your posting style at times, again pointed out your overreaction despite your claim to have used hyperbole. Thus, I fail to see how I could have derived that you were being deliberately exaggerative. Anyway, this is a moot discussion now, I have a better understanding of you and you of me.

There you go again, being a drama queen. For argument's sake though let's say it is worse, does that mean that you are suddenly exempt from having to apologize? Lol. C'mon now. Be fair or let it go.

Yes, because being dramatic is not neccesarily a bad thing. Moreover its not personal.

if you find me allegedly being dramatic, offensive that is your problem.

I find you to be boring, that doesnt mean you have to apologize to me for it:rolleyes:

Making up that i said something, about a serious matter, which i did not, is on the other hand, fiendish. You yourself admited that you did it.

That is the type of behaviour and cheap tactics one would usually associate with cheats, bullies and sociopaths.

On the internet due to the lesser implications, it usually just gets called "trolling".

Moreover, coming out in defense of other people is just who I am, I do it in real life and thus, here whenever I feel they are being treated unfairly.
Well I do take it as a compliment that you did not feel DT was capable of standing up to me himself :D

I promise to be gentle with you now Ruben, now that your mother has told us you are not grown up enough to play with the big boys, we will leave you alone:D

lol at the " i am so great in real life" line. If i had your mentality i would demand right now that you aplogise for your embarrasing self promotion.

I won't take you at your word for it though for 3 reasons.

1 youve already proven yourself to be a liar (even admitted it).

2 if you did actually help people in real life rather than just boast about it on the internets, you would presumably know better than to risk coming off as a total fool when you defend someone who does not need defending, when you don't know the context.

3, isn't it funny that the only people you have ever "defended" on here, are Gesink fans in Gesink discussions.

Total coincidence.

Save the fake hero act for picking up chicks in bars.

This will continue to be the case after this post, so if you want to criticize me on my character than go ahead
Nah, its just you that randomly enters into discussions to attack people. Just because you behaved that way does not mean I will not try to handle myself with more honor.

Pff.. the two of you, seek a room.

This thread is there to celebrate, or now to discuss :D, Robert Gesink. Not whatever happens when you get in a discussion in real life..

Given that he was nowhere at the pointy end of races so far this year, it was obvious he needed some more hard racing miles. So going for GC in California, or at least not taking it easy, was the obvious choice.

I'd have selected the other Rabo Tour de France "contenders" for the Dauphine, though, despite their good results in Switzerland last year. Unless Rabobank is desperate for results or WT points, that is.
Kruijswijk, definitely. Mollema is a bit of a special case, the guy hates altitude training, and prefers to just race himself into form. For him Suisse seems like a logical choice.

In that same regard I can tell you that if you think I ought to apologize that is also your problem. I don't owe you anything other than an eye-opener to what a hypocrite you are. Almost forcing an apology out of someone instead of being more content with a sincere apology, lol talk about inflated ego. Oh, and talking about cheats, bullies and sociopaths, keep on reading... ;)

Just when I thought you couldn't get more pathetic you go out and put words in my mouth and later have the cojones to accuse me of apologizing for making up stuff people said. Lol. I have no words. Where did I say ''I am so great in real life''? Where did I boast? Quote me on it will you. That's right you can't. You really need to stop the silly presumptions, it's getting pathetic. I simply responded to your perplexed comment about me jumping at the defense of a poster and you have to take it completely out of context in order to satisfy your craving to be right and making a mockery out of it in the process. Classy. Furthermore, to me at the moment of action it doesn't matter if I know the context or not, especially in real life, what a silly comment. Even if I frequent the Gesink related threads more often than others it doesn't make your attitude any less right. However, I already called it, you're the deflection king. I can't wait to see how you decide to paraphrase me next. Someone give the guy a pat on his back.

Lol, and you always take the moral high-ground? Quite the model poster ain't you? If anything is done randomly on these forums it's the hissy fits you throw, get a hobby.

Actually, all i did was ask if you believe an apology is neccesary.

So you see when you call me a hypocrite for "forcing an apology", well, it doesn't make any sense cos i never forced anything, i asked a question.

Are you some sort of online shrink? Youve seen a couple of posts from me and already have a whole profile of me from which to give life advice, observations, criticisms etc.

It is forcing when you keep suggesting that you are entitled to one. ;) Checkmate.

Check and mate.
How you see boasting in that is beyond me, it's a simple truth which you have decided to take out of context and ridicule at my expense and your satisfaction. Do I have to apologize for being myself now? Lol. Nice try though. ;)

I can say the same to you, no? Analyzing my character and stuff and even giving it a numbered list. Let's not get hypocritical... oh wait... ;)

Agreed about going for the GC at the ToC, he really needed to know where he stands. He seems very happy and confident after that win, so I think he will be reaping the mental benefits of it during the rest of the season. I just hope that Mollema and Kruijswijk are ready to take the reigns in case Gesink does not have it for the Tour. Also, I wonder what role Kruijswijk will have? A sort of protected role? The three of them can't have joint leadership right?

Yeah but i didn't suggest i am entitled to one. I asked you if you feel giving an apology when you have wronged someone is the right thing to do.
In other words, are you a man of honor or not.

Also "checkmate" only works once.

Its like the kid in school who responds to any observation with " i know you are but what am i".

You claim to be a 21st century good samaritan. That is boasting and i refuse to take the word of a proven liar claiming to be some people's hero.

I can say the same to you, no? Analyzing my character and stuff and even giving it a numbered list. Let's not get hypocritical... oh wait... ;)
Another "I know you are but what am I".

Actually there is nothing in your above post that hit its mark at all. Since most of it was "ikyabwai"i am going to declare victory here in so far as there is nothing more you can say to me that will change my feelings.

If the mods come in to close the discussion now, i will welcome it.

your crusade against me has fallen limp.

Tastes sweet.

ps. if you feel like being more friendly in the future i will not hold any grudges.

It is definitely a case of ''I know you are but what am I'' and you know why. Being a hypocrite you ought to know that one. Accusing someone of doing something you do yourself? Not practicing what you preach? Sounds familiar? ;) Can't dumb it down more for you to understand it. I find it incredible that you think that jumping to the defense of a person is such an alien or aged concept. I almost feel sorry for you. Anyway, there is nothing left for me to say to you other than I'm glad everyone can see how low you can fall off that high pedestal you seem to think you sit on. ;) Checkmate.

Edit: Same to you Hitch. No grudges. :)

Congratulations to him, I wish him nothing but the best. :) I think it's amazing how much he has been through at his relatively young age. At 26 he still has plenty of racing years ahead of him and I'm certain he will give us much to be happy about. I don't know much about the history of Dutch climbers, but if he ever wins a Tour or adds some of the other GT's to his palmares, will he be considered one the greatest Dutch climbers/cyclists?
