Hrotha is obviously making the most sense here.

I'm simply refuting the idea that Bakelants finishing near 15th place would be a gigantic surprise.

no, it wouldn't but whop the **** cares about top 15? I don't care for top ten either. let alone by getting into breaks

What about stage hunting? Do you reckon Serpa is gonna get a free role, BTW? Certain stages might suit him. Or is he gonna be strictly Rujano's domestique?

Also I was thinking that Thomas de Gendt or Carrara might feature on the punchy finishes on the second week maybe. Visconti and Rui Costa too.

Costa isn't there.

savio said sella and serpa have free roles which i find lame.androni should be like the old mercatone uno, everyone working for their leader, giving everything

we'll see how it goes but this is not good news for rujano

If Rujano had shown more consistency in the past maybe the story would have been different. But you cannot rely on a leader with such up and downs no matter how talented he is. IMO.

that's what he said long time ago in italian media, especially in vicenza with sella being from ther. but don't worrie. it's not true. savio knows his lesson from last year.

Ryo, why do bookmakers rate Rujano only as 3rd-4th favorite, if he's a lot better climber than the others? How do you estimate his chance to win? ;)

last year rujano's estimates where x60 and x10 for a stagewin. iglinskiy was x150 for lbl and cobo was still x30 odds midway through the vuelta last year. it's no secret I know more than they

Which is why we hear constantly about riders targeting a top 10 or whatever.

a top ten yes, top 15. no

but even top tens are mostly targated by smaller teams like ag2r and their riders that need desperate points. in reality almost all target podium or win, like fuglsang, kreuziger, rujano, scarponi, basso, purito, gadret, cunego. the others you don't hera or they usually try for a stagewin, like de gendt has said

did you just read colombian news?
sorry ryo, what a pushover, i couldn't help it :D

What it's even funnier is that you completely ignore Brother Franck LOL!!!! :D

I don't think he mentioned any targets, did he?

but on the other side, the most realistic target might be to catch the first possible flight back home and prepare for the tour, but that's not what anyone wants to here...

Fact is Rujano can easily lose time at random moments
In 2005 he lost 34 on stage 2 with a short uphill finish 43 similarly on stage 4 and another 19 on 5 and then 2 minutes 19 on the first mountain stage he then gained 3:30 in a breakaway and that was in his best performance. 2011 is a similar story albeit slightly improved, Rujano lost 5 minutes on the Strade Bianchi and got thrown out of the back on macugnaga for 2:30 and 23 seconds on another sprint stage

Add to the fact he will lose 30 in the prologue and a minute in the final tt to scarponi and Kreuzinger and you can only conclude that he isnt really a realistic contender, he is simply very inconsistent. In all of the flat stages Rujano rarely finished in the top 80 or 100 even which goes to show that he is always vulnerable to lose time.

He could win, but there are plenty of people more likely, he could easily end up 30th as well he is massively over hyped with regards to GC and is a slightly up market Piepoli with all due respect

a to p15 is never a suprise (well unless it's cavendish or bos getting top 15 in the gc, that would raise eyebrows). But he'd need a lot of luck (big breaks) that's all,,,
